LOADING T H E BATTERY 1 . Close the lens barrier. P us h O P E N to open the battery compartment cover 2. Insert two alkaline A AA / LR-03 ba tter ies wh il e ali g n i n g t h em correctly as shown. WARNING: KEEP THE BATTERY OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN.
Notes: Do not use manganese batteries. About 7 rolls of 24-exposure film can b e use d with ne w batteries. Keep spare batteries o n ha nd when going on a lon g tr ip or to a cold area. Sweat, oil, an d so on can prevent a battery's terminals from mak i ng electrical contact.
CHECKING THE BATTERIES Open the lens barrier until you f eel a click. Display: lights (and turns o ff automatically). Meaning: Batteries are OK. You can shoot. Display: blinks and other indicators are displayed normally. Meaning: Battery power is low and battery should be replaced.
PROPER SHUTTER RELEASE Practice before loading the film. Locks the focus. T h e green la mp lights. Releases the shutter to tak e the picture. Cautions: Pres s the shutter release button gently. Avoi d shaking the camera when pressing th e shutter release button to prevent blurry pictures.
LOADING TH E FI L M 1. Open the back cover. D o not touch the inside of the camera, especially the lens. 2. Insert the film cartridge until it cli cks .
A . Correct Mak e su re the fi lm is lying flat. B. Incorrect Pu sh the fil m cartridge gently to position th e fi lm correctly. Then press the left side of the back cover and close it securely. If the film is n o t ly ing flat, t he film m a y no t advance to the first frame.
3. Align the film leader w ith the mark , and close the b a ck cover. Th e film automatically advances t o th e first frame. The fil m does not overlap an y of the positioning guides . Then close th e back cover. 4 . Open the lens barrier u n t i l you feel a click.
TAKING PICTURES 1 . Op en the le ns barrier until you feel a click. The l en s extends slightly, an d th e LCD panel turns on . Note: When t he flash i s he ld down, the camera w il l not activate.

How to Use the Z oom Lever Telephoto: Pu ll the lever to t he "T" side to zoom in. Wide angle: Pu sh the lever to the "W " side to zoom out .
3. Position the autofocus mark on your subject. 4. Depress the shutter release button halfway to adjust the focus. Focus ha s been correctly adjusted and t he green lamp lights. Exposure als o will be adjus ted automatically. The autofocus auxiliary light will turn on automatically when necessary to improve autofocus accuracy.
5. Depress the shutter release button fully to tak e the picture. No t e: Ke ep your fingers an d the strap away f ro m the lens, autofocus windows and flash. Working distance: 0. 6 m (2 f t ) ~ (infinity) Notes: When the subject is closer than the minimum working distance, the shutter will n ot release.

AFTER SHOOTING 1 . Close th e lens barrier slowly an d carefully. The lens w i l l retract automatically. 2. Close th e lens barrier completely. Caution: D o not forcibly close the len s barrier as it will interfere wit h le ns retraction. Note: The power is turned of f automatically aft er 4.
UNLOADING THE FILM The camera automatically rewinds the f ilm when you reach the end o f a roll. After the motor stops and sta rt s blinking on the LCD panel, open the back cover and remove the film. Rewinding the film before the end of the rol l Press the mid-roll rewind button gently with your fingernail, etc.
US I N G T H E FLASH MODES Thi s camer a ha s four flash modes. Use these modes in accordance with the photographic conditions and your purpose. Setting the Modes Ea ch tim e t he flash mo de button is pressed, the mod e will change sequentially as shown on page 27.

AU TO FLASH T h e flash fires automatically in dark places. The orange lamp lights when the shutter release button is depressed halfway. Notes: When the orange la mp is blinking, the flash is being recharged and the shutter won't release. Release yo ur finger fro m the shutter release button, and wait for several seconds.
RE D E Y E REDUCING FLASH Significantly reduces the phenomenon of "red-eye" (w he n a subject's eyes appear red i n flash photography). I n the flash mode, the camera will fir e a series of low-power pre- flashes before the regular flash.
Th e effectiveness of red-eye reduction varies depending on th e individual characteristics of subjects. IMPORTANT: Be sure to hold the camera still until t he shutter releases.
OFF (FLASH OVERRIDE) When y ou don't want the flash to f i r e even in the dark or when you want to shoot such subjects as fireworks. Use this mo d e in situations where flash photography is not desired or is prohibited or i n twilight or night scenes.

Use this mo de t o compensate f o r a shadow cast on the subject's face (such as the shadow o f a tree). It i s als o use d wh en shooting in backlit conditions or under artificial lighting (such as fluorescent light).
SELFTIMER 1. Pre ss the button to display Fi x the camera on a tripod or other support. 2. Ai m at your subject, and press the shutter release button. The shutter wil l be released about 12 seconds after yo u press the button. The selftimer automatically d i sengages after rel ease .
Notes: Th e focus and exposure will be locked w hen t he shutter release button is depressed halfway. Do no t press the button fr om right in front of th e camera.
USING THE RC-200 REMOTE CONTROL (optional) 1 . Press the button to display To cancel this mo d e , press the but ton again. This mo de is canceled automatically when not used f o r more tha n 2 0 minutes. 2. Aim the remote control at th e c am er a, a n d press th e button.
WARNINGS: KE EP THE REMOTE CONTROL OU T THE REACH O F CHILDREN. IF A CHILD SWALLOWS THE REMOTE C O NTROL, CONTACT A D OC TO R IMMEDIATELY. NEVER EXPOSE THE REMOTE CONTROL TO EXCESSIVE HEAT OR OPEN FLAME. Notes: Use t he remote control within a range that c an be se en in t he viewfinder.

Replacing t he Battery 1. Open the buckle and remove the battery cover inside by sliding i n the direction of the ar row. 2. Insert a ne w battery (CR1220) wit h the plus mark showing o n top . 3 . Attac h the battery cover b y s l id i n g i n th e direction o f t h e arrow .
CORRECTING T H E DATA (for QUARTZDATE models only) 1 . Press the MO DE button for two seconds or longer. The ye ar indication w ill start blinking. Caution: Do no t press the button with a pointed object suc h as the tip of a mechanical pencil. 2. Press th e SET button to correct th e year.
3. Press the MODE button again. The month indication will start blinking. 4. Repeat steps 2 an d 3 to se t the day , h o u r a nd minutes. No t e: As you press the mode button, the blinking indication changes in the orde r of year, month, d ay, hour, and minute.

C AR E AND STORAGE Do not leave the ca m e r a in any place exposed to excessive heat, humidity, o r di rect sunlight — fo r example, i n a car or on th e beach. D o no t expose the camera to formalin or nap hth ale ne. If the camera get s w e t, w ip e it with a d ry t owel.
Do not expose the camera to dust or sand as thi s could cause serious damage. Do not shake or shock the camera. Do not apply excessive for ce to the zoom lens. Kee p the camera in a well- ventilated place. Do not expose t he camera to extreme h ea t (over 40°C/104°F) or to extreme cold (belo w -10°C/14°F).
Wh en transporting the camera from a cold place t o a warm place or in the event of a sudden temperature change, p u t t he camera in to a plastic ba g . This al lo ws the camera's temperature to change slo wly. Once the camera ha s adjusted to the new temperature, you ca n re mo v e it from th e b ag an d use it.
Avoid leaving the camera unused fo r long periods of time. This can cause mo ld to grow on the camera as well as other problems. Tr y to press the shutter release button and check th e operation of the camera before use. When boarding an airplane, do not put rolls of exposed film into you r check-in luggage r eg ardless of the film speed.
