Installing th e software Install the software containing the printer driver fo r Windows 95/98 in the supplied CD-ROM. Connect th e printer to the computer. S e e the operating instructions of the Digital Color Printer. Turn o n the printer and the computer.
Notes • W hen t he di a log prompting you to insert the Windows CD- ROM or floppy d isk appears during installation, insert the specified CD- ROM o r floppy di s k an d click [OK]. If th e Windows Setup starts after th e W indows CD- ROM is inserted, finish the S et up program.
Uninstalling the software When th e driver software becomes unnecessary, remove al l th e software files fr om your har d disk a s follows: Click the Windows [Start] button, click [Settings], and click [Printers]. The [Printers] dialog appears. Click to select [OLYMPUS P-330].
Printing Tip When yo u print in 3 0 6 dpi in the application software, se t the picture size u p to 1376 x 10 24 pixels. Note If the message "This printer is not supported by the driver currently associated wi t h it. Windows will use OL YM P US P-330 instead.
Click [O K] to close t h e [Print Setup] dialog. Click [Print] from t he [File] m e n u of th e application. Th e [Print] dialog appears. Set [Copies]. Y o u ca n set u p to 30 copies. Yo u c an print continuously using t he supplied automatic feeder.
Click [OK ]. Th e next dialog appears. 7 F o r further settings and operations You can m ak e split printing (page 1 4 ) , adjust resolution (page 1 2 ) or picture quality (page 13). Notes on the high speed print mode • Da t a transmission speed depends o n t h e computer.
Click t he "Document Name" waiting to be printed. Click [Document] in t he men u and then click [Cancel Printing]. Refer to th e manual o f th e Windows 95/98 fo r details. 4 5 Hints f o r better printout To obtain better print result, read the application software manual carefully.
Setting the resolution You can set the resolution depending on the image you print. Start the application software us ed to print, and click [P ri n te r Setup] f r o m th e [File] m en u . The [Print Setup] dialog appears. S et [Printer] to [O LY M PU S P-330], click [Properties] and the n click [Graphics].
Adjusting the picture quality Y o u c a n adjust th e picture quality o f the p ri n ts . Click [Print] fr o m t h e [File] m e n u o f th e app l i c a t i o n , and i n th e [Print] dialog click [OK]. T h e [OLYMPUS P - 33 0 ] dialog appears. Ad j u s t the picture.
Making t he split print To m ak e the split print correctly If the application i s to print according to t he printer's resolution, set th e i mage size as fol low s: • 6 8 8 x 5 1 2 pix el s in 1 5 3 dpi • 1376 x 1024 pixels in 306 dpi S ee th e application's manual for setting th e im age size.
Making multiple prints at hi gh speed T o print multiple copies a t high speed or w i t h li m it e d ha r d disk space, check [Print directly to the printer] i n t h e [Spool Settings] window before you start printing. Click [Start]. Point t o [Settings] a nd click [Printers].
Ch eck [Print directly to the pr i nte r ]. 7 Click [ O K ] an d close t h e [Spool Settings] window. Click [OK] and close th e [OLYMPUS P -3 3 0 Properties] window.

Click [Install]. 6 Insert the supplied CD -R O M. Input "D:EnglishWin31" and click [OK]. Input your CD-ROM drive for "D." Y o u ca n also select f r o m [Browse]. 7 8 Make sure that "OLYMPUS P-330" i s selected a nd click [OK].
Ma ke s ur e t h a t "OLYMPUS P-330 o n LPT1:" is added in the [Installed Printers:] bo x and click [Connect]. S et [Transmission Retry] to "300," check "Fast Printing Direct to Port," and click [OK]. Click [Close]. Installation finishes.
Uninstalling the software Whe n the drive r software becomes unnecessary, remove all the software files from your hard di sk as follows: Double-click the [Control Panel] icon in th e [Main] window. Double-click the [Printers] icon in t he [Control Panel] window.
Printing Tip Whe n you print in 3 06 dpi in t he application software, s e t the picture size to 1376 x 10 24 pixels. Start the application software used to print, and select th e image to be printed. Click [Print] from th e [ F ile] me nu of the application.
Click [OK]. The [Print] dialog appears. Set [Copies]. You can set u p t o 30 copies. Y ou ca n print continuously using the supplied automatic feeder. 5 6 Click [OK]. Th e next dialog appears. 7 Tip You c an make split prints (page 27), set resolution (page 25) or adjust the picture quality (page 26).
Note If t he printing o f the data has already started, don't tr y to cancel printing. Doing so will cause th e paper to ja m. Stopping printing When a "printing" message is on the screen Click the [Stop] button or the [Cancel] button. Th e printing is canceled.
Setting the resolution Maximum picture size • 1 3 7 6 x 1 0 2 4 pixels a t 306 dpi • 6 8 8 x 5 1 2 pixels at 1 5 3 dpi Tips • To print the picture smaller than 6 8 8 x 5 1 2 pixels, select 1 5 3 dpi.
Adjusting the picture quality You c a n adjust th e picture quality o f the prints. Click [Print] f r om the [File] me nu of t he application, and in the [Print] dialog click [OK].
You can make a 2 - , 4 - , 9 - , or 16-split print with an image inset in each split-plane. Click [Print] from th e [File] menu of the application, and in the [Pri nt] dialog click [OK]. The [OLYMPUS P-330] dialog appears. Select t h e desired number o f images per sheet in [Split].
Making multiple prints at h igh speed T o print multiple copies a t high speed or w i th limited ha r d d isk space, uncheck [ Us e Print Manager] in the [Printers] dialog before you start printing. Double-click [Control Panel] in the [Main] window, and then double-click [Printers] to open the [Printers] dialog.
System requirements Your computer and system software must meet the following minimum requirements to r u n the printer driver. • An Apple Macintosh compatible computer with a 68030 processor or later an d s erial port model Supporting Apple system software version 7 .

Click [Install]. Installation starts up . 6 Wh en the software i s installed successfully, the nex t screen appears. Click [OK]. 7 Fo r Macintosh 31.
Printing S e t [Chooser]. Select [Chooser] from t h e [Apple] menu. The [Chooser] wi nd ow is displayed. 1 Click the [P-330] icon in t he l ef t box. Select th e i co n in t h e right box according t o the po rt y o u connected t he printer. Select [ON] or [OFF] f o r t h e [Background Print].
Notes • U se the se t of the print paper an d in k ribbon cartridge supplied together in the sam e carton. Also m ake sure t o se t [Size] i n t he combination shown in the table. If you use them in different combination, proper printing results ma y no t be obtained or other trouble m ay occur.
Display t h e [Print] dialog in the [File] me nu f r o m the application and s et th e pages and quantity for printing. 5 Th e dialog differs depending on the application software. Cl i c k [OK]. Th e printer sta rts printing. T o adjust t h e picture quality, s e e page 3 6 .
Stopping printing Wh en a "printing" message is on the screen Click t he [Stop] button or the [Cancel] button. Or y ou ma y press th e period (. ) k ey while holding t he command ( ) key down. Th e printing is canceled. Wh en using the Print Monitor Click the [Cancel] button to cancel printing.
Adjusting the picture quality Adjusting the picture quality may result in better printout depending on i mages. Adjust the picture quality as described below. Display the [Print] dialog in the [File] m en u from the application software. 1 2 Click [Option].
Note If t he application software has t h e same adjustment item as the driver software, do the adjustment on the application software, no t o n the driver software. I f you adjust the same i tem on both the application software and the driver software, the image ma y be printed with unexpected result.
Making th e split print Tips • To preview th e printed image, see page 39 . • You ca n set [Split] also on the [Preview] screen (page 39). Note Th e 16-split images printed on the 16-cut sticker a re partly cut o ff d ue to t he size of the sticker.
Yo u can also set [Split] an d adjust color balance on th is screen. Click [Preview]. The preview screen appears. Previewing function l et s you confirm on the monitor screen how t he printed image wil l appear before printing. Display th e [Print] dialog in t he [File] m e n u from the application software.
Che ck tha t the image i s placed within t he print paper, an d click [Print this page] or [Print this page onward]. Th e printer starts printing. If you click [ Print th is pag e onward], the pri nter prints f rom the current page through the l a s t page.
Troubleshooting Use the following measures to solve pr o b lems y ou experience with your printer. If t he problem persists, contact your dealer f o r information on what to do next. The printer prints the image split into pieces. • Th e resolution of the image is incorrectly set or the size of th e image is too large.
• The printer ma y be malfunctioning. Ch ec k the indicators of the printer or the error messages of t he computer. If printer does not start printing in 5 minutes after print paper is installed when there is nothing wrong with the printer o r computer, turn o ff th e pr int er an d turn i t on again.
• Paintings, photographs, and books under copyright cannot be du pl icat ed without permission o f t he copyright holder. • Olympus reserves the right to alter the features a nd contents of this guide without obligation or advance notice.

Introduction Thank you f or purchasing this OLYMPUS digital color printer. Read this manual and warranty fo r future reference and use them when requesting service. Make sure t hat the date of purchase and dealer's name are included on your warranty.
WARNING If anything strange occurs with the printer, unplug t he power cord. If the printer emits smoke, strange smells, o r strange sounds, tu r n o f f and unplug t he printer to prevent fir e or el e c t ri c shock. Then contact Olympus. Should a n y liquid or foreign obje ct penetrate the printer, unplug the power cord.
D o not disassemble or modify the printer. Th e printer has both hot and high voltage parts on the inside. To prevent an electric shock or printer malfunction, do not attempt to disassemble or m odify the p rint e r . Fo r service or repair, contact Olympus.
WARNING Make sure that excessive d u s t and foreign matter do not accumulate o n th e power cord. Dust and foreign matter conduct electricity, which can cause f i r e and electric shock. If excessive d us t and foreign matter accumulate on the cord, unplug the cord and remove them.
Do no t block the ve nt. Doing so m ay cause the printer to heat up, possibly resulting in fire o r electric shock. • Do not block the top or s i d e vent. • Do not pu t the printer in the following places. - Badly-ventilated place - On a soft surface like a r u g or b ed Do not p ut t he printer on an unstable surface suc h as a shaky table.
Unplug t h e power cord from the power outlet before cleaning the printer. Accidentally touching a non-user-serviceable p ar t m ay cause electric shock. Unplug the prin ter if it is not used f o r an e x t ended period of time, fo r example while yo u a re on a long trip.

Inserting the print paper You ca n u se the print papers mentioned in "Optional suppl ies ( pri nt packs)" on pa ge 3 4 . First insert the print paper into t he supplied automatic feeder, and then install the automatic feeder to the printer.
• You cannot type on th e printing surface; u se an oi l ink pe n to write greetings or other characters or drawings on the printing surface. • Th e automatic feeder ca n hold u p to 3 0 sheets o f standard paper or sticker paper.

Printing an image recorded by OLYMPUS Digital Cameras You can directly print the image recorded by OLYMPUS Digital Cameras. Printing operation differs depending on the model as described below. Printing a n image from the computer To pr int an image f r om the computer, first install t he supplied printer driver to your computer. To make the connection, also refer to th e computer's manual. Connecting to a n IB M PC/AT and its compatible Use the supplied cable.
Connecting to a Macintosh and its compatible Use the supplied cable(Mini D IN 8-pin/Mini DIN 8-pin). For Macintosh: If y our computer do es not m a tc h t h e plug Use a commercialy available cable having a Mini DIN 8-pin plug to connect t he pr inte r and a matching plug to connect the computer.
Printing while directly inserting print paper S en d the print command from th e c omputer or digital still camera. Th e PAPER indicator ( ) is on, and then the READY indicator starts flashing. 1 Insert a sheet of print paper in to the paper inlet until le ss than 13/16 inches (2 cm ) of th e print paper i s l e f t out of the paper inlet.

Troubleshooting (continued) I f the indicators a re on If you cannot print, check t he indica tors on t he front panel. • T h e RIBBON indicator is on . Th e ink ribbon cartridge i s not loaded. Th e ink ribbon has r un out. Change the ink ribbon cartridge.
• The READY indicator does not light or all indicators are flashing. Print paper is jammed. Remove t he j am med paper from t he paper outlets o n t he front an d rear panels. Remove t he automatic feeder f ro m the printer and s e e i f t he paper jammed.
Troubleshooting (continued) Notes • If the READY indicator d o e s no t turn o n after having removed the jammed paper, turn the power off and on again. Try printing from the camera or computer again. • If yo u cannot remove th e jammed paper, contact Olympus.
