3 THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING AN ASTROSTART REMOTE CAR STARTER! Like you, Astroflex is concerned with the environment. This is why we suggest using the two-minute runtime when you remote start your vehicle to warm up engine fluids.
4 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS Before using this product, carefully read the f ollowing saf et y precaut ions. GENERAL RULES • Never perform a r emote star t when a person or animal is inside the vehicle. • Do not allow any person or animal to remain inside t he vehi cle when the engine is runni ng under remote starter control (continuous mode).
5 S EQUENCE ACTIVATED BY THE PARKING BRAKE . 1. While engine is running (key in ignition swit ch), apply the brakes and hold t he pedal down. 2. Move gearshift lever to neutral. 3. Apply the parking brake Once Twice Note: The system can be set - at time of installati on - to require that the parking brake be applied once or t wice.
6 THE REMOTE CONTROL The remote control can access four distinct remot e st art ers. A maximum of four remote controls can be assigned to your vehicle.
7 CONFIRMATIONS EMITTED BY THE REMOTE An audible confirmation (piezo) and a vis ual confirmation (LCD display) are emi t t ed each time a command is transmitt ed.
8 REMOTE CONTROL SETTING Certain functions on the remot e may be set to your convinience. To access the remote control programming mode, press the but t on located on the back of the remote and hold it f or 5 seconds. The remote beeps once to endica te entering programming mode.
9 T ABLE OF COMMANDS Confirmati ons emi tted by vehicle Confirmations emitted by t he vehicle are s ent as soon as the command is received by t he start module. In most cases, your remote starter will confirm that the co mmand has been received, either by sounding t he horn, the siren, or by flashing the parking lights.
10 START COMMANDS STARTING THE ENGINE To start engine, press button. The system automatically adjusts igniti on duration for your t ype of vehicle; parking lights fl ash once (duration: four seconds) then stay on all the time when t he engine is running.
11 ENGINE RUNTIME Your engine will stop automatically a fter a preset runtime: 2 min. , 4 min. , 8 min. or 18 min. depending on settings durring installati on. These dur ations are doubled for deisel vehicles. Parking lights will stay on as long as the engine is running.
12 STOP When engine is running on a remote start , you can t urn it of f by performing a stop command. This command also terminates panic mode and the alar m condit ion without disarming the secur ity system.
13 SECURITY SYSTEM This section applies to an AstroStart safety system ( optional) and should not be mist aken for t he vehicle’s original system. On such a system, the remot e can only war n of an alarm status (Alar m Link) (optional connections). The bi-directional remote control is in c onstant communicat i on wit h your vehicle.
14 OPERATION Your alarm system has three dif ferent operating modes: active , semi-passive rearming and passive r earming depending on initial programming.
15 The following table shows the effect that each zone has on the rear ming cycle. Protection zone Effect on rearming cycle Hood Doors Additional sensor Shock sensor These four zones prolong rearming cycle as long as they remain in violation.
16 DURING DISARMING Indicator flashes code for last zone t hat generated the alarm condition. Code is shown when you press button. This code is repeated until you apply the brakes. The following table shows the meaning of zone codes (number of f lashes).
17 GLOSSARY S IREN Siren has six different sounds, i.e., it ch irps repeatedly and has six diffe rent melodies (only supp lied with optional alarm ki t). It chirps intermittently (short r epeat ed chirps) during a pre- alarm and cont inuously dur ing an alarm condition.
18 UNLOCK / DISARM Press the button, doors are unlocked and alarm is disarmed, parking lights flash and siren chirps twice to confirm command has been received and that no alarm c ondition was generated dur ing your absence. If there was a violation, conf irma tion is different (4 flashes or chirps) to warn you.
19 OTHER COMMANDS ANTITHEFT (CIRCUIT DISABLER) Programmable as Active or Inactive during installation. Your Remote Starter is equipped with an antitheft syst em. This system, when enabled, consists of an out put that contr ols a relay that cuts all circuits required to operate your vehicle (optional connect i on).
20 CAR FINDER Press and buttons simultaneously. This function sounds the hor n (short melody) and flashes the parking lights so you can locat e your vehicle in a large parking lot. PANICPANIC To activate the panic mode, press and hol d more than 4 seconds on either the or the button.
21 CODE LEARNING OF ADDITIO NAL TRANSMITTER(S) Four different remote controls can be progr ammed for a given vehicle. If a fif th remote is added, the first remot e is deleted. Note : When the first code learning command is sent, all t he old codes are cleared out.
22 GEARSHIFT CHECK APPLICABLE TO MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLES Make sure the parking brake is operat ional, i.e. it has the capability of immobiliz ing the vehicle. If the parking brake cannot stop t he w heels from turning, which is not saf e, place the main switch in OFF positi on unt il the situation is rectified .
