3 1. OVERVIEW Your NVS 14 series device (the “Unit”) is an opt oelectronic monocular, int ended for observation of ob jects and orient ation at night or unde r dark conditi ons. The Unit is equi pped with a Generation 3 (“Gen 3”) image intensifier tube (“IIT”), which amplifies low light, such as moon light, starlight or man-made light.

9 5. OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS Installing battery Unit is supplied without a battery installed. Prior to installing the ba ttery, make sure the On/Off/IR/Auto switch (1, Fig.1) is in the OFF position and the objec tive lens cap is on. The Unit can operate on either a single AA or CR-123 lithium battery.

11 Switching the Unit off After you have finished using the Unit, turn it off by rotating the On/Off/IR/Auto switch to the ‘OFF’ position. Replace the objective lens cap. If storing the un it for an extended period, remove batteries. Place Unit in appropriate storage contai ner.
12 Auto shut OFF at brig ht light Each unit has a built-in high lig ht sensor located near the IR illuminator (2, Fig. 1). This se ns or shuts the m onocular off after about 45 seconds of exposu re to light exceedin g 10 -1 lux. To reset the monocular switch it off and then back on as described in 6.

14 To set comfortable eye-relief (the distance between your ey e and the eyepiece), loosen tightening sc rew on the headgear and move the Unit, then tighten the locking screw. To use the Unit with PASGT head and helmet mount u nscrew the groove d pad (2 , Fig.
15 5.2 Install ation of ad d-on lenses. Always ensu re that th e Unit is switched off when adding or removing an objective lens. To attach the afocal 3x add-on lens to th e Unit, turn off the monocular. Re move the objective lens cap. Press the 3x l ens firmly towards the eyepiece.
16 3. To detach t he current lens: hold the lens by it s base and rotate it counter-clockwise. Once the lens has been removed, store it in a safe, clean space. 4. To attach desired lens: rotate it clockwise along the threading un til snug—do not o vertighten.
17 Using the camera / video adap ter Before using the (optional) adapter, remove the rubber eyepiece carefully. The adapter (Fig. 5) consists of 2 rings: a) Camera ada pter is 52x0.75m m. It fits the filter lens thread of various cameras, e.g. Nikon. b) Video a dapter is 37x0.

19 The NVS W Mount is affixed to the Unit and the Picatinny rail using oversize d, easy to tig hten screws. The NVS QR Mount is a ‘quick release’ mount that utili zed a lever for affi xing to and removing f rom the Picati nny rail .

21 6. TROUBLESHOOTING No green (or black and white) image visible Check that the batteries are in stalled properly and are full charged. Wrongly instal led and expe nded batteries are the most common problems leading users to believe their Unit is defective.
22 Visibility decreased or disappeared Bright light sources (t he Moon, projectors or hea dlights) m ay cause visibility to d egrade or even co mpletely disappear. Move the device away from the light source immediately. The image will be restored within two minutes.
23 7. WARRANTY Newcon Optik warrants this produ ct against defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of th e original purchase. Lon ger warrant y is ava ilable, subject to the terms of the specific sales contract.
