3 1. OVERVIEW NVS 14-3GC S (the uni t) is an o p toelectronic monocular, intended for o bservation o f objects and orient ation at night or under dark c onditions. The unit i s equipped with a generation 3 image intensifier tube, which amplifies low ligh t, such as moonlight , starlight or man-m ade light.

8 5. IMAGE INTENSIFIER TUBE SPECIFICATIO NS The unit utilizes a small size inverting image intensifier with direct image transfer. The tube co ntains a m icrochannel plate, GaAs photocathode, yellow-green screen and bu ilt-in electronic high voltage DC to DC conv erter.

11 6. OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS 6.1 Installing battery Unit is supplied with uninstalled battery. Prior to installing the battery, make sure the switch (1, Fig.1) is in the OFF po sition and t he lens cap is on. The unit can operate on either AA Alkaline or CR-123 Lithium battery.

Bright red indicator reminds the user that the IR illuminator is on (for more details on illuminator see 6.9). In the daytime with lens cap on it is normal to observe a fuzzy image.
13 6.5 Focusing To obtain a sharp image at some other dista nces adjust the lens focus (3, Fig. 1) leavi ng the eyepiece setting intact. You should be able to obtain a sharp image for distan ces from 2-10m to infinity. If you wear eyeglasses or NBC protective mask, you may like to fold the rubber eyecup.
14 6.7 Auto shut OFF at bright ligh t The NVS 14-3GCS monocular has a built-in high ligh t sensor located near the IR illuminator (2, Fig. 1). This sensor shu ts the monocular o ff after abo ut 45 second exposure to light exceedin g 10 -1 lux. To reset the monocular switch it off and then back on as described in 6.

16 In “Auto” position of the switch, the monocular will turn off automatically. Reverse the operation to return th e unit to working position. 6.10 Using IR illuminator In case of insufficient li ght when observin g a close object turn on the IR illuminator by turning the switch (1, Fig.
17 (or any other add-o n lenses). Turn off the monocular. Remov e the lens cap. Press the lens firmly towards the eyepiece. Do not app ly excessive pressure. Make sure that the lens is fixed well on the m onocular. To return the monocul ar back to 1 x magnifi cation, pull off the l ens.

19 relative angles between these pos itions cannot be changed, the starting poi nt can be a djusted by scre ws (3, Fig.6). If yo u loose n them, you can rotate the flip-flop mechanism to find the suitable starting point. Tighten th e screws (3, Fig.6) after the adjustment.
20 The ‘Quick Release’ model (Fig. 8) utilizes a latch with a spring and patented accu-torque screw. You can attach and detac h your monocular wit hin a few seconds. The acc u-torque screw fixes the mount with predefined torque thus protecting the thread fr om accidental damage caused by over tightening.

23 7. TROUBLESHOOTING 7.1 No green light thr ough eyepieces Check that the batteries are installed prop erly. Check the charge of the batteries . Replace them if they are weak. 7.2 Image is unclear Check if the lenses are foggy or dusty. Clean them if necessary.
24 8. WARRANTY NEWCON warrants this product against defects in m aterials and workmanshi p for one year from the date of the ori g inal purc hase. Longer warranty is available, subject to the terms of the specific sales contract.
