7.5.2 . T o ori ent the r ange find er by using the refer ence d irect ional a ngle, proceed as follow s: - Binocular the rang e finder on th e reference point w hose dire ctiona l angle has b een known; - rotate the azimuth dial to set the reference directional angle; - turn the clam p ing handle to lock the azim uth dial in position.
To make sure that th e needle is free from defects, check that: - the needle oscillates in a sm ooth and uniform mann er to regain balance; - the position of the needle end is the sam e relative to the mark when the needle settles; - the n eedle ends are level w ith the marked plates w ithin ± 0.
- as the readiness indicator com es on, aim the rang e finder at an off- set point forward of th e target; - as the target aligns w ith he reticle gap, release the MEASURE 1 (MEASURE L) button; - read the measu red range.
- - calculate from the determined m agnetic azimuth A m of the reference point and the target to find the directional angl es, reckoning in the compass correction ∆ A obtain ed from the form ula: α.
