LOCAL CODES The installation must conform with local codes or, in t he absence of local codes, with the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54 , or the Natural Gas and Propane Inst allation Code , CSA B14 9.
PRE-INST ALLA TION PREP ARA TION LOCA TION AND SP ACE REQUIREMENTS Determine the safe st and most efficient location for your Buck Stove cast iron stove. Make sure that raft ers and wall studs are not in the way of the ventin g system. Choos e a location where the heat output is not affected by drafts, air conditioni ng ducts, windo ws, or doors.

Continued 9. Attach stove door by inserting step bolt through door hinge pi vot hole an d into threaded hole in stove body (see Fi gure 8 and Figure 10). Use an adjustable wrench or a 12mm socket to fasten step bolt. Tighten step bolt until snug. Make su re door moves freely.

VENTING INST ALLA TION INSTALLATION PRECAUTIO NS Consult local building code s before beginning t he installat ion. The installer must make sur e to select the proper vent system for installation. Before installing vent kit, the installer must read this stove and burner sy stem m anual and vent kit instructions.

Continued 3. Attach vent pipe a ssembly to t he burner system. Set stove in fron t of its permanent location to ensure minimum clearances . Mark the wall for a 10" sq uare hole (for noncom bustible mat erial such as masonry bloc k or concrete , a 7 ½" diameter hole is acceptabl e).
INSTALLATION NOTE: Direct-Vent (Balanced Flue) appliances are sensitive to vent configurations. Although this applian ce may operate in some installations that fall outside this vent requirement char t, we cannot ensure its performance. MINIMUM - MAXIMUM VENT REQUIREMENT S 24" MIN.
INSTALLATION FO R VERTICAL TERMINATION 1. Determine the route your vertical venting will take. If ceiling jo ists, roof rafters, or other fram ing will obstruct the venting system , consider an offset (see Figure 26) to avoid cutting load bearing members.

ST OVE AND DIRECT - VENT BURNER SYSTEM INST ALLA TION CHECK GAS TYPE Use proper gas type for the burner system you are installing. If you have conflicting gas types, do not inst all burner system. See dealer where you purc hased the stove and burner system for prop er burner system according to your gas type.

SER VICE HINTS When Gas Pressure Is Too Low • Pilot will not stay lit • Burners wil l have delay ed ignition • Heater will not produce specified heat When Gas Quality Is Bad • Pilot will not stay lit • Burners will produce flames and soot • Heater will backfire when lit You may feel your gas pressure is too low or gas quality is bad.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE GLASS DOOR Glass must be cleaned peri odically. During start-up it is normal for condensation to form on t he inside of t he glass causin g lint, dust, and ot her airborne pa rticles to cli ng to the glass surface. Du ring initial start-up a slight fil m may form on the glass due t o paint curing.
TROUBLESHOOTING Note: All troubleshooting items are listed in order of operation. WARNING: Turn off burner system and let cool before servicing. Only a qualified service person should service and repair burner system or stove. CAUTION: Never use a wire, needle, or similar object to clean pilot.
