SECTION II FIREPLACE PREP ARA TION The fireplace needs to be prepared before installing the heater. A. Turn off the gas supply to the fireplace. W ARNING: BEFORE INSTALLING IN A SOLI D-FUEL BURNING FIREPLACE, THE CHIMNEY FL UE AND FIREBOX MUST BE CLEANED OF SOOT, CREOSOTE, AS HES, AND LOOSE PAINT BY A QUALIFIED CHIMNEY CLEANER.
INST ALLA TION AND CLEARANCES To ensure a safe installation into a masonry or fact ory built fireplace, the following instructions must be carefully followed: (1) Sidewall Clearances: Clearance from the side of the fireplace opening to any adjacent co mbustible wall should not be less than: right side 7", left side 7".
WARNING: Failure to position the parts in accordance w ith these diagrams or failure to use only parts specifically approved with this heater may result in property damage or personal injury. (1) Front Log #1 (Slim Log wrapped in cardboard box) . Place the log between front portion of burner and log grates.

GAS PRESSURE CHECK Check the inlet pressure to the burner to ensu re that it is as shown in the ta ble below. NOTE: The pressure check point is located on the ri ght side of the valve facing burner, for SIT Millivolt, and the left side for SIT Modulating.

12 THERMOST A T CONTROL OPERA TION • This valve operates off of millivolts produced by the generator. You may choose to use an optional Wall Thermostat or Remo te control. If so, see Figure 2, page 11 for wiring diagram. MANUAL LIGHTING PROCEDURE 1.

THERMOST A T CONTROL OPERA TION 1. The thermostat control on this heater diffe rs from standard thermostats. S tandard thermostats simply turn the burner on and of f. The thermostat used on this heater senses the room temperature and adjusts the amount of gas flow to the burner.
OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS Before operating this appliance, proceed throug h the following checklist. 1. Read and understand these instructi ons before operating this appliance. 2. Check that there are no gas leaks. If you sm ell gas do not attempt to light this appliance.
REMOTE CONTROL OR WALL THERMOSTAT NOTE: Knob cannot be turned from “PILOT” to “OFF” unless knob is pushed in slightly. Do not force. 6. Wait (5) five minutes to clear out any gas. Then smell for gas, including near the floor. If you smell gas, STOP! Follow “B” in the safety in form ation on the reverse side of this label.
* If the pilot will not stay lit after several tries, turn the gas control knob to “OFF” and call your service technician or gas supplier. 11. Turn control knob counterclockwise to “ON”. 12. If using unit without wall thermostat place Auto/Off/Ma nual switch into the manual position.
MANUAL LIGHTING PROCEDURE 1. If the pilot cannot be lit with the piez o, it can be manually lit with the us e of a paper match and a lighter rod. 2. Open access panel door located at bottom front of the appliance. 3. 2. Place the match in the holder and light.
FLAME CHECK A periodic check of the flames should be m ade. The pilot flame should always be present wh en the gas logs are in operation. Rear Flames: The flames at the rear or at either side of the t.

B. Set the top (long) trim panel in place on top of unit. The panel should be f lat against the outside face of the fireplace, and standing vertically.

FREEST ANDING PEDEST AL INST ALLA TION (1) Lay the heater on its back (use a drop-cloth to protect the back of the heater and the s urface of your flooring). Place pedestal against bottom of heater. Center pedestal from left to right and from front to rear.

STEP 5: After mantel has been assembled, take m etal strips out of box supplied with mantel. Position the side strips on each side of your 329 with a m a ximum of 9 3/4" from back of stove to the edge of your metal strip. Attach with self tapping screws.
SECTION VII AFTER MARKET MOBILE HOME INST ALLA TION This appliance may be installed in an Af te r Market* Manufactured Mobile Home, where not prohibited by state or local codes. • (After Market: Completion of sale, not for the purpose of resale from the manufacturer).
PRODUCING ADEQUA TE VENTILA TION This section is for residential o r manufactured (mobile) installation “This heater shall not be insta lled in a confined space or unusua lly tight construction u nless pro- visions are adequate combus tion and ventilation air.
1. Determine the volume of the space (length x width x height). Length x Width x Height =_________cu.ft.(volume of space) EXAMPLE: 20 ft.(Length) x 16 ft.
VENTILA TION AIR VENTILA TION AIR FROM INSIDE BUILDING This fresh air would come from an adjoining unconf ined sp ace. When venting to an adjo ining space, you must provide two permanent openings: one within 12" of the ceiling and one within 12" of the floor on the wall connecting the two spaces.
VENTILA TION AIR FROM OUTDOORS Provide extra fresh air by using ventilation grills or ducts. You must provide two permanent openings: one within 12" of the ce iling and one within 12" of the floor. Connect these item s directly to the outdoors.
IMPOR T ANT SAFEGUARDS Although your gas logs are very realistic in appearan ce, it is not a real burning fireplace and must not be used for burning rejected material. • To avoid irreparable damage to the heater or pers onal injury, m atches, paper, garbage, or any other material must not be placed or thrown on top of the logs or into the flames.
