5 3 3 Unpacking the Monito r Please check that the fol lowing ite ms are inc luded with your moni tor. If they are missing or da maged, please contact your p lace of purchase im mediately .
6 4 4 Hard ware Ins tal latio n Your monitor is equipped with an auto matic power supply with a vo ltage range fro m 90 to 264 Volts AC at a f requency of 50 to 60 Hz. Make sure that your local power supply is within the supported range. If you are unsure, please contact your electr icit y supplier.
7 Aud io Cable Installat ion 1. Remo ve the rear cov er and then take the base cover o ff . 2. Connect the stereo audio cable f rom the Audio output of you r sound card to the Audio Input o f the monitor . 3. Replace the base co ver and the rear co ver .
8 5 5 Windows Soft ware Installa tion To get best per formance with Windows 95, 98, Mi llenniu m Edi tion or 2000 you should use the W indows driver suppl ied with your DV156 m onitor.
9 3. Click Next again and then c lick Co ntin ue . Th e drive r and moni tor colour profi le will be installed. Click Fini sh to complete the instal lation. Windows Mil lenniu m Edition (W indows Me) The f irst ti me you start Windows with a new monitor, the system will detect it and automatica lly start the Add New Hardware wizard.
10 6 6 Setting th e Displa y Resolution Choosing The Best Resolution All L iquid Crystal D isplays (LCDs) have a fi xed resolution that is the same as the max imu m resolution that may be d isplayed on the LCD. In the case of the DV156 the LCD resolut ion is 1024 x 768 pixe ls.
11 Supported Graphics Modes and Refr esh Rate Sele ction There is no need to choose the highest possible refresh rate when using an LCD monitor . It is not technica lly possible for an LCD monitor to f licker. E ven at a refresh rate o f 60 Hz you will ge t an absolutely fl icker-fr ee i mage.
12 • When you shut Wi ndows do wn you may see inter ference l ines on your screen. This caused by the manner in which Wi ndows controls the graphics card at this point and is norma l with al l LCD m onitors.
13 7 7 Adjust ing the Monitor Picture Optimisation The easiest way to obtain an opti mal p icture is by using the AUTO but ton. This only works reliably if the graphics adaptor is set to use one of the monitor ’ s factory modes (see Table 1 in the pre vi ous chapter) and i f you are displaying an appropriate ful l-screen test pattern.
14 Power: Turn the mon itor on or o ff . AUTO: Automat ically adjusts the vert ical position, pi xel phase, horizontal posit ion and pixe l clock . Exit: Return to the main menu or ex it the OSD menu without saving. Press the exit key when the OSD is not displayed to adjust the audio v olu me.
15 The centre section will c learly show the alternat ing black and white lines or a unifor m level o f noise wil l appear across the image. C lose the clock submenu by pressing Exit . 6. Use the wheel to select Hori zontal Posi tion and press Enter .
16 8 8 Securi ty Lo ck Installa tion The Diamond View DV156 can be secured to your desk or any other fi xed object with a Kensington lock security product . The Kensington lock ‘ s cable can be attached to a slot located at the rear of the mon itor.
17 9 9 Frequentl y Asked Questio ns The image is bl urred, how can I get the best quali ty p icture? ♦ Read chapter 6, Setting the Display Resolution , and select a graphics signal with the correct resolution and ref resh rate. Then read chapter 7, Adjusting the Monitor , and m ake adjustments to the d isplayed image based on these instructions.
18 No image is displayed , what can I do? ♦ Check that the light (LED) ne xt to the monitor ’ s power button is li t and is green in co lour. I f the LED is green, press the Exit but ton on the mon itor to access the On Screen Display.
