8 CHAIN TENSION (Including unit s with chain a lready installed ) WAR N I N G : Wear protec tiv e gloves when handl ing chai n. The chai n is s harp and c an cut you ev en w hen it is not moving. NOTE: When adjus ting c hain tension, make s ure the bar knob is finger tight only.
9 OPER A TING YOUR U NIT BEFORE ST ARTING ENGINE WAR N I N G : Be s ure to read the fuel information in the safet y rules before y ou be- gin. If you do not understand the safety rules , do not attempt to f uel your unit. C ontact an authoriz ed ser vic e dealer .
10 OFF HALF CHOKE /F AST IDLE LE VE R FULL 6. P ull the star ter rope s harply wit h your right hand until t he engine star ts. 7. A llow the engine to r un for approx imately 30 sec onds. Then, s queeze and releas e throttle tr igger to allow engine to return to idle s peed.
11 S Keep the engine at full s peed the entire time y ou are c utting. S Allow the c hain to cut for y ou. E xer t only light downwar d pres sure. S Releas e the throttle trigger as s oon as the cut is c ompleted, allowing the en- gine to idle. If you run the saw at full throttle w ithout a c utting load, unnec es- sar y w ear c an occ ur .

Nev er allow anot her per son to hold t he log w hile cutt ing and never hold the log w ith your leg or foot.
13 S Be alert f or s pringbac k . Watch out for branc hes that are bent or under press ur e. Avoid being struc k by the branch or the saw w hen the tens ion in the wood fibers is releas ed. S Keep a c lear wor k ar ea. F requently c lear branc hes out of the way to av oid tripping over t hem.
