5 Before starting work the chain saw must be checked f or perfect function and operating safety accor ding to the prescri ptions. Check especially the function of the chain br ake, the correct mountin.
6 - The saw must be running whenev er y ou remov e the chain saw f rom the wood. - When performing several cuts the throttle lev er mus t be released in between. - Be careful when cutting splintery wood. Cut pieces of wood ma y be pulled along (risk of injuries).
7 Fir st aid For the e vent of a possible accident, please make sure that a first aid kit is always immediately av ailab le close by . Immediately replace any items used from the first aid box.

9 P o sition the guide bar (7). Lift the chain (9) over the sproc ket (10). Usi ng y our right hand, guide the chain into the top guide groov e (11) on the guide bar .
10 Chain brake The DCS230T and DCS232T come with an inertia chain brake as standard equipment. If kick- back occurs due to contact of the guide-bar tip wit h wood (see “SAFETY PRECAUTIONS”), the chain brake will stop the chain th rough iner tia if the kickback is sufficiently str ong.
11 Chain oil Use an oil with adhesive additiv e for lubricating the chain and gu ide bar . The adhesiv e additiv e pre v ents the oil from being fl ung off the chain too quickly . W e recomm end the us e of chain oil which is bio-degradable in order to protect the en vironment.
12 T o ensure troublefree operation of the oil pump the oil guide groov e at the housing ( 2) and the oil inlet bore in t he guide bar (3) must be cleaned regularly . Chec king the chai n lubricat ion Nev er work with the chain sa w without sufficient chain l ubrication.
13 Chec king the c hain b rake Do not work with the c hain saw without first c hecking the c hain brake! Star t the engine as described (make sure you ha ve a good foot ing, and place the chain saw on t he ground in such a wa y that the guide bar is free of contact).
14 All cutters must be sharpened to the same angle, 30° . Diff erent angles result in a roughly , irregu- larly ru nning chain, increase wear and tear and cause chain beakage . The 85° front rake of the cu tter results from the cu t depth of the round file .
15 Cleaning the g uide bar , lubricating th e sproc ket nose CA UTION: Protective g loves m ust be worn . Regularly inspect the bearing surfaces of the guide bar f or damage, and clean them with a suitab le tool.
16 Electr ode gap The electrode gap must be 0.6 – 0.7 mm. Cleaning th e inlet p ort of the cooling air Unscrew f o ur screws (2). Remove recoil star ter (3). Clean the inlet por t (4) and the cylinder fins. Cleaning th e muffl er CA U TION: If the en gine is hot there is a risk of burning.
