3 READ ALL INSTR UCTIONS. F or personal safety and proper operation and maintenance of the tool, read this instruction manual carefully before using the tool. Alwa ys wear saf ety glasses to protect your e yes from dust or nail injur y . The safety glasses should conf or m with the requirements of ANSI Z87.
4 General T ool Handling Guidelines: 1. Alwa ys assume that the tool contains fasteners . 2. Do not point the tool towa rd yourself or any one whether it contains f asteners or n ot. 3. Do not actuate the tool unless the tool is placed fir mly against the workpiece.
5 Only those inv olved in the work should be in the vicinity . Chil- dren especially must be k ept awa y at all times. There ma y be local regulations concerning noise which must be complied with by k eeping noise lev els within prescribed limits. In certain cases, shutters should be used to contain noise.
6 Alwa ys check the tool f or its over all condition and loose screws bef ore operation. Tighten as required. Make sure the saf ety system is in working order before oper- ation. The tool must not operate if only the nail guide is pressed against the wood.
7 Make sure no one is nearb y before nailing. Ne ver attempt to nail from both the inside and outside at the same time. Nails ma y r ip through and /or fly off , presenting a gra ve danger . W atch your f ooting and maintain your balance with the tool.
8 DO not point the ejection por t at any one in the vicinity . K eep hands and feet aw ay from the ejection por t area. When the air hose is connected, do not carr y the tool with your finger on the trigger or hand it to someone in this condi- tion. Accidental firing can be extremely dangerous .
9 P erf or m cleaning and maintenance right after finishing the job . K eep the tool in tip-top condition. Lubr icate moving parts to pre vent rusting and minimize friction related wear . Wipe off all dust from the par ts. Do not operate this tool if it does not contain a legib le W ARN- ING LABEL.
10 TO O L INST ALLA TION INSTR UCTIONS AND USE Selecting compressor The air compressor must comply with the requirements of ANSI B19.3 - 1981. Select a compressor that has ample pressure and air output to assure cost-efficient operation. The gr aph shows the rela- tion between nailing frequency and compressor air output at a compression of 8.
11 Lubrication T o insure maximum perf or mance, install an air set (oiler , reg- ulator , air filter) as close as possible to the tool. Adjust the oiler so that one drop of oil will be provided f or ev er y 20 nails. When an air set is not used, oil the tool with pneumatic tool oil by placing 2 (tw o) or 3 (three) drops into the air fitting.
12 Loading nailer CA UTION: • Be careful not to touch the trigger when loading the nail. • When loading nail into the nailer , grip the nail by the shank, not the tip. Hold the nail shank lightly and inser t the nail head into the nail guide until the nail is held firmly by the magnet.
13 Operation CA UTION: • Make sure the saf ety system is in working order before operation. T o star t driving, place the tip of the nail against the driving surf ace and pull the tr igger . At the star t of driving, apply gen- tle downw ard pressure on the n ailer in the arro w direction to hold the nail fir mly .
14 Air exhaust Air e xhaust direction can be changed easily by rotating the e xhaust cover . Change it when necessar y . Jammed nailer CA UTION: • Alwa ys disconnect the hose before cleaning a jam.
15 MAINTENANCE CA UTION: • Alwa ys disconnect the hose bef ore attempting to perf or m inspection or maintenance. Maintenance of nailer Alwa ys check the tool f or its over all condition and loose screws bef ore operation. Tighten as required. With tool disconnected, make daily inspection to assure free mov ement of the nail guide and tri gger .
16 Maintenance of compressor , air set and air hose After operation, alwa ys drain the compressor tank and the air filter . If moisture is allowed to enter the tool, it ma y result in poor perf or mance and possible tool f ailure. Check regularly to see if there is sufficient pneumatic oil in the oiler of the air set.
