1 The 6402 and 6402D T elephones There are two 6402 telephone s: the ba sic 6402 telephone an d the 6402 D, which ha s a 2-li ne, 16-ch aracter display. Familiari ze your self with the featu res on the 64 02 and 64 02D tele phone, sh own in F igure 1 be low.

The M10L-8400 (Comco de: 40 763971 5; PE C: 3122-0 22) is the on ly mo dular b ase u nit that shou ld be use d for the 6 400 Series term inals.
4 The Redial (or La st Number Dialed) feature auto matically redials th e last extens ion or out side num ber you di aled. T o redial the las t number that y ou dialed 1. Press . The red ialed numb er can be an outsi de number (up to 24 di gits), an exte nsion, or a trunk or fea ture acce ss code .
5 The T est feature al lows you t o test the lights on your tele phone and the display , if the tele phone has one. T o test the lights a nd display o n the telepho ne 1. While on-hook, press and hold dow n . The lights go on ste adily , and, if your teleph one h as a display , all the display seg ments fill in.

17 Removing the T elepho ne T ray Y ou may wish to remove the tray f rom the ba se of the t elephone, especia lly if you ar e wall-mounti ng the tele phone. See Figure 9 f or further he lp. 1. Pull th e tray from the base of the tel ephone as far as it will go.
18 Installing the T elep hone Number Card Use t he telepho ne number c ard (label ed Te l N o . ) to wri te your tel ephone number or extens ion . T o label an d install the telephone nu mber card on y our 6402 or 64 02D telephone 1. Print you r phone nu mber or extension on the T el.
