6 The Harmony 900 Univ ersal R emot e is your answ er to effortless home entertainment. The Activities butt on puts control of all y our devices in one convenient location. Y ou can go from wat ching TV to wat ching a D VD t o list ening to music with t he touc h of a button.
7 How y our RF Syst em works Y our RF Sys tem allows y ou to contr ol devices that ar e behind closed doors. R emote contr ols generally use infrar ed (IR) commands to communicat e with y our devices. These IR commands need a direct line of sight betw een the r emot e and the device t o work.

11 Char ging your r emot e Collecting your model numbers Y ou will want t o collect all of your de vice model and manufacturer numbers bef ore y ou set up your user account.
12 Collecting the inputs f or y our devices Y ou will want t o collect inf ormation about how your de vices are connect ed t o each other - in other wor ds, your syst em’s inputs. Inputs ar e how the devices in y our ent er tainment syst em are connect ed.

14 2 Setting Up the De vices y ou W ant to Control The guided online setup asks you t o ent er your de vice information. Ent er the inf ormation f or all the ent er tainment components y ou want to contr ol with y our Harmony 900. Y ou should use t he Device W orksheet to g ather all y our device information bef or e star ting the setup pr ocess.

Activities ar e the basis f or how the Harmon y 900 works. With A ctivities, the Harmon y 900 eliminat es the need t o use multiple remot es f or simple tasks.
16 Selecting devices f or each of y our Activities When you set up A ctivities, the software asks questions about t he function of each device. For ex ample, if you set up the W at ch TV Activity , y ou’re ask ed which de vice changes the c hannels (T V or sat ellite/cable bo x).
17 Selecting inputs When you begin t o add an Activity , the Harmon y Remot e Software will pr ovide y ou with a list of inputs f or your devices t hat use them, such as y our T V or A V R eceiver . The sof twar e will pro vide you a list of t he inputs that it has on recor d as mat ching with y our device.
18 4 Update Y our Remot e and T est Once you’v e added your de vices and your Activities, it’s time t o updat e the inf ormation t o your r emot e. 1 . Make sur e your r emot e is connected t o y our computer . 2. Go t o your Activities page. 3. Select the Updat e Remot e butt on in the t op right hand corner of the page.

22 Activities The Activities scr een is your starting point on the Harmon y 900. F rom this scr een, you can select y our Activities. Devices When you pr ess the De vices button, the Har mony 900’s scr een displays a list of your de vices. Fr om this scr een, you can contr ol individual devices.

24 Char ging your r emot e Using the sleep timer Y our Harmon y 900 allows y ou to set a time f or your r emot e to aut omatically turn off. For ex ample, if you want t o wat ch t he news bef ore y ou nod of f t o sleep, you can set the sleep timer so that y our remot e will turn y our syst em of f af t er the length of time y ou hav e chosen.
25 Cleaning the scr een Y our r emote scr een can be lock ed so that y ou are able t o clean the scr een without sending commands t o your syst em. T o turn the Cleaning Loc k on: Press 1 . Options on your r emot e’s My Activities scr een. Press 2. Cleaning Lock.
26 Selecting Activities Y our One T ouch A ctivities Swit ching betw een Activities T o select a new A ctivity: Press t he 1 . Activities butt on. Select the A ctivity you want t o enjoy . 2. The Harmony 900 will t ak e care of pow ering on the needed devices, and po wering off the ones not needed.
27 How butt ons work in an A ctivity The butt ons on your Harmon y 900 can change their contr ol depending on which Activity y ou’re in and how y ou have set up y our Activities in y our Harmony R emot e Software user account.
28 The Harmony 900’s R emot e Assistant guides y ou through starting Activities. It also giv es you more inf ormation about the st atus of your r emote and t he Activity y ou selected.
29 Because obstacles or distance can int erfer e with the signals the Har mony 900 sends when it starts an Activity (f or example, someone walks betw een your Har mony 900 and the TV when you press W .
30 Y our Devices Controlling y our devices individually In some cases, you ma y need to contr ol a device individually . Y ou can use the device f eatur e of the Harmon y 900 to contr ol devices one-by-one. When you pr ess the De vice button, the Har mony 900’s scr een displays a list of your de vices.
31 Hard buttons on y our remot e ar e all of the butt ons that are not on the scr een. Most of these butt ons can be changed t o work the w ay you w ant them t o. For ex ample you may not use t he Recor d butt on on your r emote and w ould rather ha ve the Aspect command appear in its place.

33 If you w ant a button t o do something specific, or ther e’s a function on your de vice’s original remot e that’s not on the Har mony 900, y ou can creat e your o wn buttons t hat appear on the Harmony 900’s screen. This way , you can r ef er to t he command by name in various locations in t he Harmony R emot e Sof twar e. W e recommend y ou use the default names list ed on the Learn IR pag e.

46 My RF Sy stem is not working t he wa y I want I mov ed m y Blast er and/or Mini Blasters and m y r emot e stopped w orking If you ha ve mo ved pieces in y our RF Syst em and are having pr oblems, see our section on Moving pieces in y our RF Syst em.
