Installation 9 5.0 I NST ALLATION 5.1 Prep aration 1. Visually inspect the UPS for freight damage. Report damage to the carrier and your local dealer or Liebert representative. 2. De cide where to place the PowerSure PSI. Inst all the UPS in doors in a controlled environment where it cannot b e accidentally turned Off.
Installation 10 5.3 Rack-Mount U PS Conversion and Inst allation 1. For fixed rail installations, install the rack mount handles using four (4) M4x6 screws (see Figure 7 ). Figure 7 Rack mount handles 2. Unpack the two fixed rail assembli es and mounti ng hardware.
Installation 11 4. Attach the two (2) fixed rails to the racks mounting ra ils. The fi xed rail assemblies fit on the inside of the ra ck mounting rails. 5. Ins ert two (2) M5 flat head screws loosely (finge r-tight) into the top and bottom holes on the front of the fix ed rail assembly (see Figure 9 ).

External battery cabinets are designed to be pla ced all on one side of the UPS or stacked beneath the UPS.
Controls and Indica tors 14 6.0 C ONTROLS AND I NDICATORS 6.1 ON/Alarm Silence/ Battery T est Button This button controls output power to co nnected lo ad(s) and has three fun ctions: •O n • Alarm.
Controls and Indica tors 15 6.3 V olt age Programming Button The PowerSure PSI contains a Volt age Programming button that a llows the operator to select the nominal mains voltage. This setting ch anges the mains transfer points (low and high) of the UPS and the nominal output voltage when operating in Ba ttery mode.
Controls and Indica tors 16 6.9 Over T emp Indicator—Amber The Over Temp Indicator flashes wh en the UPS detects an over temper ature condition. This indicator illuminates when the UPS sh uts down due to an over temperature condition (see 11 .0 - Trouble- shooting for details).
Modes of Operati on 17 7.0 M ODES OF O PERATION 7.1 Normal Mode During Normal mode operation, the Po werSure PSI supplies conditioned, co mputer-grade power to the connected equipment: mains power pas.
Modes of Operati on 18 7.3 Battery Mode The UPS switches to Battery mode in the event of an extreme input voltage/f requency condition or complete mains failure.
Communications 19 8.0 C OMMUNICATIONS 8.1 DB-9 Connector The UPS has a DB-9 (9 pin female) connector on the rear to a llow UPS status communications wi th a computer system running Mu ltiLink software. The DB-9 is capab le of supplying serial comm unica- tion, on battery and low battery signals.
Communications 20 8.3 USB Interface Port The PowerSure PSI has a USB interface port for co mmunication that will wo rk with the built-in Microsoft Power Manger software on the user’s PC , if so equipped. It will pro vide UPS status and manages the automatic orderly shutdown of the computer.

Maintenance 22 10.0 M AINTENANCE The PowerSure PSI UPS requires very little mainte nance. Follow these practices to prevent prob- lems. 10.1 Cleaning the UPS The following will help ensure trouble-free operation for years: • Vacuum dust from the ventil ation intake occasionally.
Maintenance 23 10.3.1 Internal Battery Replacement Proce dure 1. Gently remove the front plas tic bezel cove r from the U PS. 2. Loosen and remove the five (5) screws on the front cover plate. Lay th e cover plate aside for reassembly. 3. Loosen and remove four (4) screws on battery bracket.
Trou bleshooting 24 11 . 0 T ROUBLESHOOTING The information below indicates va rious symptoms a user may encount er in the event the PowerSure PSI experiences a problem. Use this information to determine whether external factors caused the problem. See Table 2 - Troubleshooting chart for suggested remedy.
