Basic Rack Pow er Distribution Unit 1 Preliminary Information Feature s This booklet provides information on inst alling and operating American Power Conver sion (APC ® ) Rack Power Distribution Uni ts (PDUs). Receiving inspection Inspect the package and contents fo r shipping damage, and m ake sure that all parts were sent.
2 Basic Rack Power Distribution Unit Inst all the Rac k PDU Att ach the cor d retention trays Attach the cord retention trays to the Rack PDU, using four f lat-head screws (p rovided) per tray . Attach cords to the tray Attach a cord to the tr ay by lo opin g the cord and securing it to the tray , using a wire tie (provided).
Install the Rack PDU Basic Rack Pow er Distribution Unit 3 Mounting op tions Y ou can install the Rack PDU in one of two ways : using toolles s moun ting pe gs (provi ded) or mountin g brackets (provid ed). The 1 -U and 2-U hori zont al Rack PDUs m ust b e mo unte d us ing th e horizontal mounting brackets.
Install the Rack PDU 4 Basic Rack Power Distribution Unit Bracket mounting V ertical mountin g. T o mount the Rack PDU vertically in a NetShelter or any stan dard EIA-310 rack or enclosure: 1.
Install the Rack PDU Basic Rack Pow er Distribution Unit 5 Horizont al mounting. Y ou can mount the Rack PDU in a 1 9-inch Ne tShelte r or other EIA-310- D standard 1 9-inch rack: 1. Choose a mounting positio n for the Rack PDU with either the dis play or the rear facing out of the enclosure.
6 Basic Rack Power Distribution Unit W arranty and Servic e Limited warra nty APC warrants the Rack PDU to be free f rom defects in material s and w orkmanshi p for a peri od of two years fro m the date of purchase. Its obligation under this warranty is limi ted to repairing or replaci ng, at it s own sole o ption, any such defective pro ducts.
