4 Quick Install Windo ws95/98 1. With the power off , insert the LavaP or t-Quad card into any fr ee PCI slot. 2. Launch Windows - new hardware will be f ound. 3. When prompted , inser t the LavaP ort-Quad installation diskette and select the file “Lav a.
5 Hardwar e Installation 1. Before opening the casing of y our computer , make sure that all power is off . 2. Locate an unused PCI slot and insert the LavaP ort-Quad into it. Ensure that it is well seated . 3. Screw the metal backplane of the LavaP ort-Quad board to your PC’ s casing and replace the machine ’ s c over .
6 Windo ws Driver Installa tion Windo ws Installation Note: Make sure that you are installing the correct Lav aPort-Quad drivers for the appr opriate operating system. DO NO T install NT or Windo ws 3.x drivers under other versions of Windows 1. With the power turned off , insert the LavaP or t-Quad card into any free PCI slot in your PC.
7 4. The Lav aPort-Quad hardware appears in Device Manager in two places: under the Multi-function Adapters tree and as part of the Ports tree. Please note that an y changes to the Resources (I/O Addr.

A screen similar to the f ollowing will appear: Note: Do not be alarmed if Windo ws reports an I/O Range or IRQ conflict between the LavaP ort-Quad and some other device in your PC. The Lav aPort-Quad is a fully compliant PCI device , and therefore allows for the sharing of IRQ and I/O Resouces between devices .
10 The Lav aPort-Quad hardware appears in Device Manager in two places: under the Multi-function Adapters tree and as part of the Ports tree. Please note that the Resources (I/O A ddress & IRQ) used by the LavaP ort-Quad can only be modified through the LavaP ort Parent device - listed under Multi-function Adapters.
11 Unless you already ha ve more than 4 Com P orts installed in your PC, Windows will by default configure the La vaP ort-Quad por ts as Com5 through Com8.

13 The data rate of the La vaP or t may be set using the Bits per Second pull down menu. Please note that this menu will also appear when setting the “P ort Properties” in any communications application, and may have to be set independently of your Contr ol Panel settings.
