A storm or dry er ty p e vent with a screen is adequate. F or your convenience, an outside air kit (part # 4OAVK) is available throug h y ou r dealer. If you are not installing this stove in a mobile home, and outside air is no t desired, simply remove the outside air cover at the stove back so a mbien t room air ca n enter.
SECTION 2 The flue and flue conn ections Do not connect this unit t o a flue servicing another appliance. It is of utmos t importance that the flue be dedicated to the Arctic as th e flue is, without a doubt, the most im portant component of the system.
SECTION 3 Fuel tank installation and fuel line co nnections OIL: Your Kuma Arctic comes wit h a carburetor set for an average of a 2.35 cc. vi scosity rat- ing. You should be able to burn either #1 or #2 fuel with adjustm ents to the carburetor. A spe- cial high viscosit y c arburetor is available for burning bio-dies el if desired.
SECTION 4 Lighting a nd carbur etor adjust ments PRE-L IGHTING CHECKS : The inst allation sh ould be in spected to ens ure that t he work is complete and the wo rkman- ship is sat isfactor y. No stove sh ould be lit if any part o f the install ation does not comp ly with the relevant st andards and regu lations.
6. When oil is lit, replace the catalyst/ top burn ring and shut the doo r (a slightly cracked door is helpful for a short period of time to aid ini tial light-up of oil, but shoul d not be required for more than 30 seconds). Until t he flue pipe warms up and d raft is initiated, your Oil Cl assic will burn with a high, yellow/orange flame.
The carburetor on y ou r Arctic has a main float valve int ernally to regulate the oil level in the stove. It also has a separate, second safety float that can trip off if th e oil level becomes too high in the carburetor. S hould this occur, you can reset the safet y lever by clicking it back down to start.
SECTION 6 T rouble -shooting guide CONDITION: 1. Oil present in burner with the carburetor in “off” position. 2. No oil in burner bottom after carburetor is turned on. 3. Flame smok y when lit . 4. Flame smok y when b urning low. 5. Flame smok y when b urning high.
5. -Carburetor out of adj ustment (decrease high-fire screw). -Cold flue. -Flame set too high (flame imp inging on baffle too much). -Faulty gasket (door rope, glass s eal, or relief plate seal). -Excessive residue in burner bottom. 6. -High wind, or unstab le draft condition.
