VM -1H4C – Getting S tarted 3 3 2.3 Shielded Twisted Pair Kramer engineer s have dev eloped spe cial shielded twisted pa ir cable s to best match our digital twisted pair products; the Kramer: BC -DGKat524 (C AT 5 24 AWG), the Kra mer BC -DGKat623 (CAT 6 23 AWG), and the Kra mer BC -DGKa t7a23 (CAT 7a 23 A WG) cables.
4 VM -1H4C – Getting S tarted 2.5 Recycling Kramer Products The Waste Electri cal and Ele ctronic Equip ment ( WEEE) Directive 20 02/96/EC aims to reduce the amount of WEEE sent for dispo sal to landfill or incineration by requiring it to be collected an d recycled.
VM -1H4C – Overview 5 5 3 Overv iew The high quality VM -1H4C is a distribution a mplifier for HDM I , IR an d bidirectional RS - 232 signals over TP (Twis ted Pair) cable. It reclocks and equaliz es the input signal and distribu tes it to four TP outputs simultan eously.
6 VM -1H4C – Defini ng the VM- 1H4C 1:4 HDMI Over CAT 5 DA 4 Defining the VM -1H4C 1:4 HDMI Over CA T 5 DA The VM -1H4C encodes the HDMI , IR and RS- 232 signals and transmits the m over TP cable to a compa tible receiver (for ex ample, the Kra mer TP - 574 H DMI/ RS - 232/ IR Line Receiver ) .

8 VM -1H4C – Connect ing the VM-1H4C 3. Connect the fron t panel re mote IR 3.5 mm mini jack to the IR devi c e, (for example, an IR emitter ). Note : All data is passed simultaneously to all four TP ou tputs. 4. Optional — Connec t to a serial con troller , (for example , a computer) to the RS -232 9-pin D-sub conn ector.
VM -1H4C – Acquiri ng the EDID 9 9 6 A c quiring the EDID The VM -1H4C is programmed with a defau lt EDID (see Sec tion 9 ) . This lets you connect the pow er before having to connect one of the acceptors . To change this default EDID, you must acquire th e new EDID from a display de vice.
