INSTRUCTION MANUAL KENW OOD CORPORA TION B60-4404-01 (EN) CD PLA YER DPF-R 6030 CD-406 DPF-R 4030 CD-404 DPF-R 3030 CD-403 This instruction manual is used to describe multiple models listed above. Model availability and features (functions) may differ depending on the country and sales area.
2 The illustration shows the CD-406/DPF-R6030. Factory fitted moulded mains plug 1. The mains plug contains a fuse. For replacement, use only a 13- Amp A ST A-appro ved (BS1 362) fuse. 2. The fuse cover must be refitted when replacing the fuse in the moulded plug.
3 Unpack the unit carefully and make sure that all accessories are put aside so they will not be lost. Examine the unit for any possibility of shipping damage. If your unit is damaged or fails to operate, notify your dealer immediately. If your unit was shipped to you directly, notify the shipping company without delay.

5 The OUTPUT level (UP/DOWN) keys of the remote control unit can adjust the output levels from the LINE/OUT and PHONES jack of the unit. Connect a stereo headphone to the PHONES jack of the CD player. Output level ÷ It is not favorable for the sound quality to decrease the output level from this unit too much.

7 The keys with the same name as those on the remote control unit operate the same way as the remote control unit. 1 ON/STANDBY (POWER / ) key 9 Turns the unit ON/STANDBY. 2 P.MODE key # Used for playback mode switching. 3 CHECK key $ Used to check or change program contents.
8 Operation of remote control unit (Except for CD-403/DPF-R3030) 1. The supplied batteries are intended for use in operation checks. Therefore, their lives may be shorter than ordinary batteries. 2. When the remote-controllable distance gets shorter than before, replace both batteries with new ones.
9 1 Preparing to play tracks Load/unload a disc. Close the tray. All DISC indicators " " light regardless of how many discs are present. Label side Disc tray 2 Place/remove a disc. 3 When loading or unloading other discs Preparation • Turn the unit ON.
10 Check that the unit is in the TRACK mode. ! ÷ Playback starts from the disc selected in order of the DISC No. ÷ When the 3 / 8 key is pressed without selecting a disc, playback starts from the indicated DISC No. Normal play (TRACK mode) Use the following procedure to play a CD in the original order of tracks from track No.
11 Skipping tracks Playback from desired track 2 Select the desired track No. 1 Select the disc. ÷ The track in the direction of the pressed key is skipped, and the selected track will be played from the beginning. To skip forward To skip backward Searching ÷ Playback starts from the position where the key is released.
12 You can select the display type and check the disc informa- tion. ÷ Load a disc in the CD player. Preparation Displays Display scrolling (CD-406/DPF-R6030 only) Some titles contain so much text information that the full titles will not fit on the display.
13 Programmed play (PGM mode) Use the following procedure to program desired tracks in a desired order. (up to 32 tracks) ÷ Load a disc in the CD player. Press so that the “PGM” indicator lights. 1 Preparation Do this operation in the stop mode. ÷ Up to 32 tracks can be programmed.
14 T o check or change the programmed tracks 1 Press the CHECK key. Press until the track No. to be changed is displayed. 2 Select the disc. 3 Select the new track No. 4 Set the entry. T o add a track to the program 1 Select the disc. 2 Select the desired track No.
15 Press to clear tracks from the end. T o clear tracks from the program To clear all tracks ÷ Each time the key is pressed, the last track in the program is cleared. ÷ The tracks which are programmed earlier than the track being played cannot be cleared.
16 Playback in a random order (Random playback) ™ As tracks are selected at random, you can enjoy listening to for a long time. ÷ Load a disc in the CD player. Preparation 1 2 Press the RANDOM key. In case track No. 5 is selected ÷ Each time a track ends, the same operation as above is repeated, and the track selected next is played.
17 Repeated playback ™ Preparation ÷ Load a disc in the CD player. T o repeat the entire disc This allows repeated playback of all the tracks on the disc loaded in the disc tray. 1 Press so that the “PGM” indicator goes off. 2 Press the REPEAT key.
18 T o cancel repeated playback Press the REPEAT key. Repeated playback REPEAT indicator goes off. CD-406/DPF-R6030 CD-404/403/DPF-R4030/R3030 REPEAT 1 Press so that the “PGM” indicator lights. T o repeat only the programmed tracks 2 Select the disc.
19 Blinks. CD-406/DPF-R6030 The following procedure allows to record a CD within the specified tape length so that no music is interrupted in the middle at the ends of sides A and B. Editing (Except for CD-403/DPF-R3030) Preparation 1 Light the “EDIT” indicator.
20 T o clear the edited contents T o check the edited contents ÷ When the CHECK key is pressed, track numbers and remaining time in the file A are displayed first, then those in the file B. Playing or recording the edited contents Press the 6 key to start playback according to the edited content.
21 T imer operations Timer playback of CD can be started at any time using an audio timer which is available in audio stores. 1 Turn the powers of the associated components ON. 2 Preparation Load a disc in the CD player. 9 Set the amplifier volume. 3 1 Play the disc.
22 Never play a cracked or warped disc. Cleaning If fingerprints or foreign matter be- come attached to the disc, lightly wipe the disc with a soft cotton cloth (or similar) from the center of the disc outwards in a radial manner. Storage When a disc is not to be played for a long period of time, remove it from the player and store it in its case.
23 ÷ Power plug is loosely connected. ÷ With the power plug connected to the switched AC outlet of an amplifier, the power of the amplifier is turned off. ÷ Disc is loose. ÷ Disc is too dirty. ÷ Disc is cracked. ÷ Condensation has occurred on the optical lens unit.
