5 Make sure that the fan at the rear of the unit and the ventilation slots on the unit are not blocked or covered in any way . Otherwise the unit may overheat.

13 Connection and setup Connect the satellite receiver (HDMI or alternatively TV Scart socket) and the TV set using an HDMI or Scart cable (see “Connection example”). If your TV is stereo, you can receive the sound in stereo via the HDMI or Scart connection.

15 Connection and setup The following display appears: Use the buttons here to select the basic settings for the video and audio output from the receiver to the TV set. For this, refer to the operating manual for your TV set and take care to select only those settings that your TV set can process.
16 Audio format via HDMI Here you can select the type of audio signal that is transmitted by the HDMI interface. Select the signal that your TV set can process: - Decoded PCM or - S/PDIF format Auto Dolby Digital output Here you can select whether the receiver should automatically select the Dolby Digital soundtrack (if this is transmitted).
17 Separated: The second tuner input of the receiver , identied at the rear of the unit by “LNB2 in”, receives its own signal input (i.e. there is a direct connection between the antenna socket and tuner input 2). See example illustration on the right.
18 The following conguration options are available for: T uner 2 Connection type “Loopthrough”: All settings are made on tuner 1. The second tuner is fed from the looped through output of the rst tuner . Available settings for tuner 1 are: “DiSEqC™1.

21 Connection and setup 22 kHz signal: Y ou only need to specify this data if your LNB type is “Simple”. The 22 kHz signal is needed to switch LNBs in multi-feed reception and to switch between Low and High band. - On - Off T est-T ransponder: Select the “T est-T ransponder” eld.
22 Connection and setup The following display appears: Select Satellites - T uner 1 Here, you can select the available satellites (max. 64) included in the signal on tuner 1. Use the buttons to select the satellite you want and conrm your selection with the button.
23 Connection and setup LNB frequency (MHz): Y ou only need to specify this data if your LNB type is not “Universal LNB”. The data required differ for the settings “Simple” and “User-dened”. Refer to the documentation supplied for your LNB.

25 Connection and setup The following display appears: Motor Control Select the control type “DiSEqC™1.2”. Refer to the documentation for your motorized antenna for details. Go to Null Position Select the “Go to Null Position” eld. Press the button to instruct the turntable to move to its null position.

27 Connection and setup Set the turntable so that both of the bars “Signal-Strength” and “Signal-Quality” on the right of the screen show the highest available percentage values.
28 Connection and setup Set Borders Select the “Set Borders” eld. In this menu you can set the limits for your turntable. This is particularly necessary if the turntable has only a restricted range in which it can turn before striking an obstruction (such as a wall or tree).

32 Use the buttons to select “On” in the “OneCable System used” line. Then use the buttons to switch to the “OneCable System” eld. The following display appears: Use the buttons to select the one cable system used in your reception system: - EXR .
33 Connection and setup The following display appears: Select Satellites - T uner 1 Here you can select up to two satellites included in the signal on tuner 1. Use the buttons to select the satellite you want and conrm your selection with the button.

36 Refer to the documentation supplied with the UAS 481 for the settings for “T uner 1” and “T uner 2”. No frequency can be used by more than one receiver . The receivers would interfere with each other . Do not assign the same frequencies/channels to tuner 1 and tuner 2.
37 Connection and setup T ransmission channel for tuner 1: Select a free available transmission channel (SCR 0 - SCR 3). T ransmission channel for tuner 2: Select a free available transmission channel (SCR 0 - SCR 3). When you have completed all settings for the satellite, press the (green) button.
38 Connection and setup OneCable System - user-dened The following display appears: Select Satellites - T uner 1 Here you can select up to two satellites included in the signal on tuner 1. Use the buttons to select the satellite you want and conrm your selection with the button.
39 Connection and setup The individual items are selected using the buttons. Changes to the current settings can be made using the buttons or the numeric keypad. The following display appears: Make the settings for the second tuner in the same way as for the rst tuner .

41 Channel Search The individual items are selected using the buttons. Changes to the current settings can be made using the buttons. If you do not want to perform a channel search, press the (green) button and continue with the chapter “Date and T ime”.
42 Connection and setup Network Search Use the buttons (On/Off) to select whether a network search should be performed. If you set the network search to “Of f”, only the factory default transponders for the satellite(s) you previously selected will be searched for new as yet unsaved channels.

44 Automatic Manual Y ou need not input any further data, the receiver will automatically update the date and time. Use the numeric keypad or the buttons to input the correct date. Then use the buttons to switch to the “Time” eld and use the numeric keypad or the buttons to input the correct time.

46 General operating instructions After you have input the desired term, press the button to enter the name/search expression or press the or button to cancel the input.
47 General operating instructions Explanation of symbols in receiver display V arious symbols are occasionally shown in the receiver display above the normal display (channel name). These are not displayed permanently , they only appear for specic functions, procedures or channel features.

51 Channel Information Channel information is shown for a few seconds each time the channel is changed (this can be changed under “Settings”, “User-Dened Settings”, “Customise Screen Menu”) or displayed continuously by pressing the button.
52 Calling up the channel options If the channel OSD contains the following icon , this is a portal channel. Press the (yellow) button, use the buttons to select “Channel Options” and press the button to conrm your selection.
53 Select Audio T rack If the channel banner displays 1/3 in front of the symbol for the selected soundtrack, this tells you that you have currently selected the rst of the three available soundtracks. Press the (yellow) button, use the buttons to select “Select Audio T rack” and press the button to conrm your selection.
54 T eletext This symbol in the channel information shows you whether T eletext is available for the selected channel. When you press the button, the receiver processes the T eletext service data for your TV set to display , even when the signal is encrypted.
55 One-T ouch Recording (OTR) Basic operation in TV or Radio mode (live operation) T o start recording directly to the hard disk, press the (red dot) button. The following display appears (example): Use the buttons to select the lines to be changed; make the changes using the buttons.
56 Premium EPG Y ou will only see information on the current or subsequent programmes in the EPG if this data is supplied/transmitted by or by the channel provider . If no EPG data is available, the receiver shows the message “No data available” instead of showing information on the current program.
57 Premium EPG Calling up the EPG The EPG is opened by pressing the button. Y ou will automatically see the view you selected in the menu (“Settings”, “User-Dened Settings”, “EPG Settings”) - irrespective of which view you selected last time before exiting the EPG.
58 Premium EPG - (red) button Open the timer list (display of all pre-programmed recordings/reminders) - button Navigation in the individual views (e.
59 Premium EPG Views of the EPG “Current” View The “Current” view can be called up at any time in EPG by pressing the (green) button. In the “Current” view you can see all channels displayed in the order of the overall channel list.
60 Premium EPG “Coming up” view (programme listings) The “Coming up” view can be called up at any time in EPG by pressing the (yellow) button. In the “Coming up” view you will see all the programmes that will be shown on the channel previously selected in the “Current” view .
61 Premium EPG Categories view The “Coming up” view can be called up at any time in EPG by pressing the (blue) button. In the “Categories” view you can see all programmes, sorted by category and start time.
62 Premium EPG Y ou can create your own categories within this section. Press the button to activate the input eld. Now you can enter the search expression/category name for your new category . Alphanumeric characters are input as described in “Operating instructions”, “Alphanumeric entries”.
63 Premium EPG In this section you have the facility to select an actor that is shown in the Actors list (using the cursor ( ) buttons) and the by pressing the button to search through all available data for programmes in which this person appears.
64 Search function Premium EPG The search function can be called up in EPG at any time by pressing the button. The following display appears (see screenshot on the right).
65 Premium EPG Full text search After calling up the search function, press the button again to gain access to the full text search. The following display appears (see example on the right): If necessary the last search expression used is offered.
66 Premium EPG Recording settings (programming the timer) The (red dot) button allows you to set a programme for recording at any time. The programme to be recorded can be selected in any of the EPG views, provided the (red dot) button appears at the bottom of the screen display .
67 Information on direct decryption using timers (recordings on encrypted channels): The “Decrypt” eld only appears when recording encrypted channels. If you want to make the recording unencrypted, use the buttons to select “Y es”; if you want the recording to be made encrypted on the hard disk, select the “No” option.
68 Recording “Once” Use the buttons to select the “Once” recording mode (see screenshot on the right). Use the buttons to switch to the “Date” eld and use the buttons to select the desired recording day .
69 Premium EPG Recording “Daily” Use the buttons to select the “Daily” recording mode (see screenshot on the right). Use the buttons to switch to the “Start” eld and use the buttons or the number buttons to select the desired recording start time.
70 Premium EPG Recording “User-Dened” Use the buttons to select the “user-dened” recording mode (see screenshot on the right). Use the buttons to switch to the “Day” eld and use the buttons to select the required day for the recording.
71 Premium EPG Reminder function (switch over to programme) If you want to be reminded that a programme is about to start, you can activate the reminder function for the desired programme. The reminder function is set up in exactly the same way as programming a recording.
72 Premium EPG Timer list view The “T imer list” view can be called up at any time in EPG by pressing the (red) button. The following display appears (example): The timer list view shows you all the recordings and reminders that are scheduled (marked green).
73 Premium EPG When editing a recording, you can change all parameters apart from the recording mode. Make the changes using the cursor ( ) buttons and the numeric keypad. Press the button to conrm your changes, and return to the timer list view .
74 Editing the channel list Calling up the “TV -Channellist” menu T o p i c P a g e Y ou have two ways of accessing the edit menu for the channel lists: 1. Directly via the channel list • On the TV picture, press the button to open the channel list • Then press the (red dot) button or 2.

76 Selecting the channels to be edited Select a channel in the selected channel list/favourites list using the cursor ( ) buttons (see example screenshot on the right).
77 Move Use the buttons to select “Move” and conrm your selection with the button. The following display appears (see example screenshot on the right): Now use the cursor ( ) buttons or the numeric keypad to select the new channel memory position(s), then conrm the insertion with the button.
78 Lock Use the buttons to select “Lock” and conrm your selection with the button. T o lock the channel you must now enter your four-digit PIN code (factory setting: 0000).
79 If several channels use the same data, the following warning message is displayed when you deactivate the function (see screenshot on right). In this case, no data is stored for the other affected channels. Y ou can only use this function if Premium EPG data is available for the selected channel.
80 Editing channels (favourites lists) After selecting the channel(s) to be edited, press the (red dot) button. The following display appears (see screenshot on the right). “Start Blockselection” only appears if just one channel has been selected for editing.

84 Recording archive (play back/edit recordings) Folders in the recording archive From software version 1.02, the UFS 922 includes the option of creating folders in the recording archive. Y ou can give these folders the names of your choice and add recordings to them.

94 Moving to a folder Y ou can use this function to move the recording selected before calling up the edit menu to a folder you have created. Use the buttons to select “Move to folder ...”. Then press the button. The currently available folders are displayed.
95 Copying to USB data carrier Use the buttons to select “Copy to USB Device” and conrm your selection with the button. The following display appears (example): The connected USB data carrier must be “F A T/F A T 32” formatted.
96 Note: When the chapter view is called up, the receiver automatically creates seven chapters for the recording you select, if this has not already been done. This function is not performed if you have already created chapters manually . Use the buttons to select the desired chapter .
97 Deleting chapters Deleting a chapter: Use the buttons in the chapter overview to select the chapter to be deleted, and press the (red dot) button. The following display appears (see screenshot on the right). Use the buttons to select “Delete” and conrm your selection with the button.

1 12 Audio Settings TV -Scart-Output Select the type of video signal to be output at the TV Scart socket here . Select the signal that your TV set can process.
1 13 Preferred Subtitle Language Select here your preferred subtitles language. Y ou can choose between the following languages: Deactivated (off), German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Czech, Dutch, Polish, Turkish or Russian.
1 14 Clock Change (Summer Time) Here you can select whether the receiver should automatically change over to and from summer and winter time. The “Manual” setting only makes sense if you also selected “Manual” for the selection item “Time setup”, since otherwise the time information is obtained automatically by the receiver .
1 15 Setting the remote control code Main menu - Settings After calling up the menu you will see the following display: Y ou can now use the remote control for your receiver to set a new remote control code (the remote control code 1 is set as standard).
1 16 Parental Lock User Dened Settings Fan Settings Main menu - Settings Use the buttons to set the desired fan speed (revolutions per minute). Either - Fast (1500 rpm) - Medium (1000 rpm) - Slow (500 rpm) The fan speed should be adjusted to the temperature changes in the receiver .
1 17 Main menu - Settings The following display then appears: In this menu you can set various restrictions/parental controls. The individual items are selected using the buttons. The changes to the current settings can be made using the buttons or the numeric keypad.

120 Recording settings After calling up the menu you will see the following display: The individual items are selected using the buttons. Changes to the current settings can be made using the buttons. Automatic Timeshift Select here whether automatic time-shifting is enabled or disabled.
121 Antenna & satellites (settings) Main menu - Settings After calling up the menu you will see the following display: If you do not have a meter for adjusting your reector , you can use the sat nder as an alignment aid. However the sat-nder is not a complete substitute for a meter .
122 Main menu - Settings FEC Select the applicable error rate (V iterbi rate). Y ou need not state the error rate for the DVB S(SD) transponders. Instead a xed display of “Automatic” appears. Y ou must state the correct error rate for the DVB S2(HD) transponders.
123 Frequency Select here the desired transponder . By pressing the button at this point you can view a list of the transponders saved in the receiver for this satellite. Use the buttons to select the transponder you want and conrm your selection with the button.
124 Delete Satellites Press the button to delete the currently selected satellite. As a security feature you are asked to conrm again by pressing the button that you really want to delete the satellite.
125 After calling up the menu you will see the following display: The individual items are selected using the buttons. If you need to access submenus, they can be called up using the button. Changes to the current settings can be made using the buttons or the numeric keypad.
126 Main menu - Settings Symbol Rate The symbol rate is positively assigned to each saved transponder , and cannot be changed. Polarization The polarization is positively assigned to each saved transponder , and cannot be changed.
127 Add a new transponder By pressing the button you can call up the input screen to save a new transponder . The following display appears: Frequency: Use the keypad to enter the transmission frequency for the new transponder .
128 Always follow the operating instructions from your Pay-TV provider and the instructions supplied with the Smartcard and the CA module! Smartcards and CA modules are not included with this product!.
129 Main menu - Interfaces (CI, hard disk and network) Y ou can nd out which Conditional Access modules are in the CI slots on the UFS 922 and which Smartcard is in which CA module from the “Mainmenu” under “Interfaces”, and the “Common Interface” menu.
