3 English Connections Do not turn on the po wer until all connections have been completed. Use the acce ssory pin cables to con nect this unit ’ s LINE terminals wi th those for the T APE/CD/VCR on the receiver , etc.
4 Digital Optical and Coaxial Cable Connections Optical Cab le Input/Output T erminals • Connect a receiv er or amplif ier with digital a udio capability v ia the opt ical Input/Outpu t cables. A single cable transmits ste reo signals (L/R channels) as digital data.

11 English The CDR can play general audio CDs, CD-R and CD-R W media. 1 Press th e CDR Control OPEN/CLOS E 0 b utton to open the CDR disc tra y . 2 Load a disc in position and c lose the tray b y pressing the CDR Contr ol OPEN/CLOSE 0 butt on again.
12 • The butt ons on the remote c ontro l can be used to c ontrol CD pl ayer playback a nd CDR recordin g and playba ck. When using the remote contr ol, be sure to point it directly at the front lefthand side of the main unit (facin g you) when pressing the bu ttons.
13 English Direct T rac k Selection (sele cting another tra ck dur ing play back) Press the num ber bu tt on(s) correspond ing to the track to be playe d (Step 2). The displ ay will change to indi cate the correspon ding track nu mber , play back of the curren t track will stop and playbac k of the newly selected t rack will begin.

Setting the repe at play mode Press the REPEA T butto n on the remote con trol. The REPEA T indicator will b e shown in the PLA Y MODE section of the display window .
15 English • There are 3 CD p itch control b uttons on th e remote control th at can be us ed to v ary the speed of CD play back up to 12% f aster or slower than th e standard playback s peed.
16 It is po ssible to sel ect your own program (order of t racks being played ) usin g the p rogram p layback mo de. Any of t he tracks (1-99) on the CD in the tr ay of the CD playe r can be selected . If you want to prog ram and re cord tracks , see “ Program Edit Recording ” on p age 26.
17 English T o change the contents of the pr ogram In the CD sto p mode, press the SET button fo llowed b y the CAN- CEL bu tton. Programmed tra cks will be erased in the re verse orde r of when they were en tere d (starting from t he last track pro- grammed).

19 English Recor ding onto CD-R/R W Discs Notes on Reco rding • Do no t use CD-R or C D-R W disc s with dus t and/or scr atches on the surface as this may cause th e recording to so und rough an d may caus e skip ping wh en play ed ba cked . It ma y e ven cause t he unit to malfunction.

22 A UT O TRA CK function off • Manu al track marking offers you th e flexibili ty of placing track marks an ywhere you like in the r ecording. • Manu al track marking is not possible when the A UT O TRA CK funct ion is on. T o add track marks automat ically 1 When the unit is in the stop mode, press the MENU button ( main unit/remote control).

26 Note • Up to 32 step s can be included i n the programming. The sam e track can not be programm ed twice. When there is n ot much recording tim e left on the CD-R or CD- R W disc, tr acks that are longer than th e remaining time (pr e-cal- culat ed) can be progra mmed but “ NO REM ” is sh own in the information display .

32 Special Recor ding Edit Operations Occasion ally , there may be tracks on a disc that are partial, repeated, or are otherwise unwanted. Before a CD-R or CD-R W is f inalized, it is possible to enter a skip marker for that track in the PMA (Program M emory Area).
33 English 4 Press the SE T button (main unit/r emote con tr ol). •“ ERASE (start track) – (last track)? ” is flashed in t he informa- tion disp lay . (Initially , the start track and last track are bo th the last track nu mber recorded on th e CD-R W .
34 Finalizin g a disc marks the f inal process in recordin g on a CD-R or CD-R W disc. In this process, a TOC (T a ble Of Co ntents) is written to the disc. When this pro cedure is completed, it will be possible to play the CD-R or CD-R W disc on CD players compatib le with CD- R and/ or CD-R W discs.

The di gital quality of CDs and other digital m edia can be rec orded to CD-R and CD-R W using the CDR functio n of this unit.
42 T r oub leshooting If the un it fails to o perate properly even when the r emedial ac tion suggest ed above has been t aken: This unit uses a microcomputer to pe rform a large numbe r of op erations. If it f ails to operate no matter whic h button is pre sse d, disco nnect the power cord, and then wait a fe w moments before re-connecting it.
