If the volume level is adjusted for the tuner , f or example , the speakers may be damaged by the sudden incr ease in the output level. 14 ENGLISH What you can do with RDS RDS (Radio Data System) allows FM stations to send an additional signal along with their regular programme signals . F or e xample, the stations send their station names, as well as inf ormation about what type of programme they broadcast, such as spor ts or music, etc.

16 ENGLISH Using PTY Standby Reception PTY Standby Reception allo ws the unit to switch temporarily to your f avourite prog ramme (PTY : Programme T ype) from the current source (another FM station, CD or other connected components). • PTY Standby Reception will not work if you ar e listening to an AM station.
17 ENGLISH Searching your favourite programme Y ou can search any one of the PTY codes. In addition, you can store y our 6 fav ourite programme types in the number b uttons. When shipped from the factory , the follo wing 6 programme types ha v e been stored in the number buttons (1 to 6).
18 ENGLISH Other convenient RDS functions and adjustments Changing the display mode while listening to an FM station Y ou can change the indication on the display to station name (PS NAME), station frequency or programme type (PTY) while listening to an FM RDS station.
19 ENGLISH Automatic selection of the station when using the number buttons Usually when you press the n umber button, the preset station is tuned in. Howe ver , when the preset station is an RDS station, something diff erent will happen.

The control panel mov es down, and the loading slot appears. Note: When an external component is connected to the auxiliary input jack, be car eful of handling a disc.

23 ENGLISH Playing a CD T ext In a CD T e xt, some information about the disc (its disc title, perf or mer and track title) is recorded. Y ou can show these disc inf or mation on the displa y .
24 ENGLISH Prohibiting disc ejection Y ou can prohibit disc ejection and can lock a disc in the loading slot. While pressing SEL (select), press and hold 0 for more than 2 seconds. “NO EJECT” flashes on the displa y for about 5 seconds, and the disc is lock ed and cannot be ejected.
25 ENGLISH MP3 INTRODUCTION How are MP3 files recorded and played back? MP3 “ files (tracks) ” can be recorded in “ directories (folder s) ”—in PC ter minology . During recording, the files and directories can be arranged in a wa y similar to arranging files and directories/folders of computer data.

34 ENGLISH Selecting preset sound modes (EQ) Y ou can select a preset sound mode suitable to the music genre. 1 Press EQ to activate the sound mode (EQ).
35 ENGLISH 4 Select the frequency . • Y ou can select 70 Hz, 150 Hz, 400 Hz, 1 kHz, 2.4 kHz, 6 kHz, and 12.5 kHz. 5 Adjust the level of the selected frequency in the step above. • Y ou can adjust the lev el within the range of “–05” (minimum) to “+05” (maximum) for each frequency .

40 ENGLISH T o select the target component to operate through this receiver – KEY SEL Y ou can operate either JVC’ s D VD play er or VCR through this receiver , by using the number buttons on the control panel. When shipped from the f actor y , these number buttons are set to be used f or the D VD operations.
41 ENGLISH Assigning names to the sources Y ou can assign names to CDs and the external components. After assigning a name, it will appear on the displa y when you select the source.
42 ENGLISH Changing the control panel angle Y ou can change the angle of the control panel to four positions . Adjust the angle to the position you want. Each time y ou press the button, the panel angle changes as f ollows: When using the remote controller Press ANGLE ∞ repeatedly .
43 ENGLISH Detaching the control panel Y ou can detach the control panel when leaving the car . When detaching or attaching the control panel, be careful not to damage the connectors on the back of the control panel and on the panel holder .
ENGLISH 44 EXTERNAL COMPONENT OPERA TIONS Playing external components Y ou can connect two external components to this unit. Connect one to the LINE IN plugs on the rear , and the other to the auxiliar y input jac k on the control panel.

46 ENGLISH CD CHANGER OPERA TIONS Playing CDs Select the CD automatic changer (CD CHANGER). When you select a source , the pow er automatically comes on. Each time you press the button, the source changes as follo ws: * W ithout connecting the DAB tuner or CD changer , you cannot select it as the source to play .
