ENGLISH 5 Remote controller 3 • Selects the preset stations while listening to the radio . Each time you press the b utton, the preset station number increases, and the selected station is tuned in. • While playing an MP3 disc on an MP3- compatible CD changer; – Skips to the previous disc if pressed briefly .
ENGLISH 6 Preparing the remote controller Before using the remote controller: • Aim the remote controller directly at the remote sensor on the main unit. Make sure there is no obstacle in between. • Do not e xpose the remote sensor to strong light (direct sunlight or artificial lighting).
7 ENGLISH 4 Adjust the sound as y ou want. (See pages 18 and 19.) T o drop the volume in a moment Press briefly while listening to any source. “A TT” star ts flashing on the displa y , and the volume le vel will drop in a moment. T o resume the previous v olume lev el, press the button briefly again.
8 ENGLISH Canceling the display demonstration When shipped from the factory , displa y demonstration has been activ ated, and star ts automatically when no operations are done f or about 20 seconds. • It is recommended to cancel the displa y demonstration bef ore you use the unit f or the first time.
9 ENGLISH Setting the clock 1 Press and hold SEL (select) for more than 2 seconds so that one of the PSM items appears on the displa y . (PSM: see page 20.) 2 Set the hour . 1 Select “ CLOCK H ” (hour) if not sho wn on the displa y . 2 Adjust the hour .
10 ENGLISH 2 Start searching f or a station. When a station is receiv ed, searching stops. T o stop searching bef ore a station is received, press the same button y ou hav e pressed for searching. RADIO OPERA TIONS Listening to the radio Y ou can use either automatic searching or manual searching to tune in to a par ticular station.
11 ENGLISH When an FM stereo broadcast is hard to receive: 1 Press MODE to enter the functions mode while listening to an FM stereo broadcast. 2 Press MO (monaural), while “MODE” is still flashing on the displa y , so that “MONO” appears on the displa y .
12 ENGLISH T o tune in to stations of higher frequencies T o tune in to stations of lower frequencies FM1 FM2 FM3 AM Storing stations in memor y Y ou can use one of the follo wing two methods to store broadcasting stations in memory .
13 ENGLISH T uning in to a preset station Y ou can easily tune in to a preset station. Remember that you must store stations first. If you ha ve not stored them y et, see “Storing stations in memory” on pages 12 and 13. 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM).
14 ENGLISH CD OPERA TIONS Playing a CD 1 Open the control panel. Note on One-T ouch Operation: When a CD is alr eady in the loading slot, pr essing CD CD-CH turns on the unit and starts playback automatically . 2 Insert a CD into the loading slot. The unit turns on, draws the CD and star ts playbac k automatically .
15 ENGLISH Locating a track or a particular portion on a CD T o fast-forward or reverse the track T o go to the next or previous tracks T o go to a particular track directly Press the number b utton corresponding to the trac k number to star t its pla yback.
16 ENGLISH T o go to a track quickly (+10 and –10 buttons) 1 Press MODE to enter the functions mode while playing a CD . 2 Press +10 or –10. * First time you press +10 or –10 button, the trac k skips to the nearest higher or lower trac k with a track number of m ultiple ten (ex.
17 ENGLISH Prohibiting CD ejection Y ou can prohibit CD ejection and can lock a CD in the loading slot. While pressing CD CD-CH, press and hold for more than 2 seconds. “ NO EJECT ” flashes on the display f or about 5 seconds, and the CD is loc ked and cannot be ejected.
18 ENGLISH SOUND ADJUSTMENTS Selecting preset sound modes (C-EQ: custom equalizer) Y ou can select a preset sound mode (C-EQ: custom equalizer) suitab le to the music genre.
19 ENGLISH 2 Adjust the setting. 3 Repeat steps 1 and 2 to adjust the other items. T o reset each sound mode to the factory settings, repeat the same procedure and reassign the preset values listed in the tab le on page 18.

21 ENGLISH T o select the level meter—LEVEL Y ou can activate or deactiv ate the lev el meter according to your pref erence. When shipped from the factory , le vel meter is activated. • ON: Shows the audio le vel indicator . • OFF: Cancels the audio lev el indicator ; sound mode indicator is shown.
22 ENGLISH Attaching the control panel 1 Insert the right side of the control panel into the groo ve on the panel holder . 2 Press the left side of the control panel to fix it to the panel holder . Note on cleaning the connectors: If you fr equently detach the contr ol panel, the connectors will deteriorate .
23 ENGLISH CD CHANGER OPERA TIONS We recommend that y ou use the JVC MP3- compatible CD changer with y our unit. By using this CD changer , you can pla y back y our original CD-Rs (Recordable) and CD-R Ws (Rewritable) recorded either in audio CD f or mat or in MP3 format.
24 ENGLISH • When the current disc is a CD: Pla yback star ts from the first trac k of the current disc. Notes: • When you pr ess CD CD-CH, the power automatically comes on. Y ou do not have to pr ess to turn on the power . • If you change the sour ce, CD changer play also stops.
25 ENGLISH Press 5 (up) while playing an MP3 disc, to go to the ne xt folder . Each time you press the b utton consecutively , the next f older is located, and the first file in the folder starts playbac k.

27 ENGLISH EXTERNAL COMPONENT OPERA TIONS Playing an external component Y ou can connect the external component to the CD changer jack on the rear using the Line Input Adapter KS-U57 (not supplied).
28 ENGLISH TROUBLESHOOTING What appears to be trouble is not alw ays serious. Check the f ollowing points bef ore calling a ser vice center . Remedies Adjust it to the optimum le vel. Check the cords and connections. Press the reset button on the panel holder after detaching the control panel.
