– 6 – 1 Attach the FM antenna to the FM [75 Ω ] coaxial terminal. 2 Extend the FM antenna. 3 F asten it up in the position which gives y ou the best reception, then f ix it on the wall, etc. About the supplied FM antenna The FM antenna supplied with this unit can be used as temporary measure.
– 7 – 1 Pr ess and hold the clamp of the AM terminal on the r ear of the unit. 2 Insert the end of the AM (MW/L W) loop antenna cord into the terminal. • If the AM (MW/L W) loop antenna wire is cov ered with vinyl, remo ve the vinyl by twisting it as sho wn in the diagram.
– 8 – T o audio output Audio/video equipment CANCEL / DEMO CANCEL / DEMO Canceling the Display Demonstration When connecting the AC po wer cord into a wall outlet, the unit automatically starts display demonstration. On the unit ONL Y : T o cancel the displa y demonstr ation, press CANCEL/DEMO.
– 9 – Common Operations T urning On or Off the Power T o turn on the unit, press ST ANDBY/ ON so that the ST ANDBY lamp goes off. T o turn off the unit (on standby), press ST ANDBY/ON a g ain so that the ST ANDBY lamp lights up. A little power is al ways consumed ev en while the unit is on standby .
– 10 – Selecting the Sound Modes This function only af fects the playback sound , not your recording. Y ou can select one of the 6 preset sound modes (3 surround modes and 3 SEA—Sound Ef fect Amplifier—modes). T o select the sound modes, turn the SOUND MODE control until the sound mode you want appears on the display .
– 11 – T uning in a Station 1 Press FM/AM. The unit automatically turns on and tunes in the previously tuned station (either FM, MW or L W). • Each time you press the button, the band changes as follo ws: 2 Start searching f or stations. On the unit: Press and hold TUNING + or TUNING – f or more than 1 second.
– 12 – Searching for Programs by PTY Codes (PTY Search) One of the advantag es of RDS is that you can locate a particular kind of program by specifying PTY codes. • For details on the PTY codes, see “ Additional Information” on page 25. T o search for a pr ogram using PTY codes • PTY Search is applicable only to preset FM RDS stations.
– 13 – Switching to a T raffic Announcement T emporarily By recei ving the service called “Enhanced Other Networks” function, the unit switches temporarily to a broadcast of a traf fic announcement (T A) from the current FM RDS station.
– 14 – 3 If y ou wish to load a third disc, press DISC CHANGE on the unit or DISC SKIP on the remote contr ol. The disc tray rotates by 120˚. 4 Press 0 again. The carrousel closes. About the disc indicators Each disc indicator corresponds to the disc tray of the same number .

– 16 – . Programing the Playing Order of the T racks —– Program Play Y ou can arrange the order in which the tracks play before you start playing. Y ou can program up to 32 tracks. • T o use Repeat play (see page 17) for Program play , press REPEA T after starting Program play .
– 17 – Playing at Random —– Random Play The tracks of the selected CD will play at random. • T o use Random play , you have to cancel the Program play . 1 Load a CD . 2 Pr ess one of the disc number b uttons (CD 1, CD 2, and CD 3) f or the disc you want to play , then press 7 .
– 18 – Playing Back T apes Playing Back a T ape 1 Pr ess EJECT ( 0 ) for the deck y ou want to use. 2 Put a cassette in, with the exposed part of the tape down and the side y ou want to play facing front. • Y ou can play back only type I tapes. 3 Close the cassette holder gently .
– 19 – Recording a T ape on Deck B On the unit ONL Y : 1 Press EJECT 0 f or deck B. 2 Put a recordable cassette in, with the e xposed part of the tape down and the side y ou want to record facing fr ont.
– 20 – CD Synchronized Recording Y ou can easily record a CD onto a tape. • Y ou can also record the tracks in the order you have made the program. On the unit ONL Y : 1 Put a recordable cassette into deck B. 2 Place a disc correctl y on the recess of the disc tray , with its label side up.
– 21 – 2 Press CLOCK/TIMER again. “ON TIME” appears for 2 seconds, then the unit enters on-time setting mode. 3 Set the on-time y ou want the unit to turn on at. 1) Press 4 or ¢ to set the hour , then press SET . 2) Press 4 or ¢ to set the minute, then press SET .
– 22 – 6 Select the preset station number . Press 4 or ¢ to select the preset station number , then press SET . The unit enters volume setting mode. 7 Pr ess 4 or ¢ to set the volume le vel. • Y ou can select the volume le vel from V OL MIN, VOL 1 — V OL 30, and V OL MAX.

– 24 – Maintenance T o get the best performance of the unit, keep your discs, tapes, and mechanism clean. Handling cassette tapes • If the tape is loose in its cassette, take up the slack by inserting a pencil in one of the reels and rotating. • If the tape is loose, it may get stretched, cut, or caught in the cassette.

2 SPEAKERS CONNECTION • DO NOT use other amplifier to operate this speaker system except for CA-MXK50R. • Turn off power to the whole system before connecting the speakers to the amplifier. • The maximum power handling capacity of the SP-MXK50 is 70 W.
