8 SEALANT V ent Restriction The GF 300 DV is equipped with an E xhaust R estrictor Plate which enables you to r egulate the flow of exhaust gas. The plate prev ents ov erly strong dra ft that can cause poor combustion and weak flame picture.
9 V er tical V ent T ermination The Jøtul GF 300 D V can be vertically vented through a ceiling or to a roof termination with the following guidelines: The termination should fall within the shaded areas of the grids depicted in the V ent W indow diagrams on pages 10 - 11.

12 C o-linear V ent Installation The GF 300 D V may be v ented through a masonr y or Class A pr efabricated chimne y using a Co-linear Flexible V ent system approved f or use with a solid-fuel burning fireplace.
13 Masonry or Pref abricated Chimney Co nv ersion The GF 300 DV is appr oved for use with Simpson Dur a- vent Chimney Kit #934 in a masonry chimney or a pref abricated solid fuel listed chimney . These installation requirements must be followed: 1. Use the guidelines for C oaxial V ent T ermina tion appropriate f or your gas type on pages 11 - 12.
14 Horizontal T ermination Any horizontal termination must f all within the shaded portion of the v ent window graph illustr ated in figs. 9 or 11. For Snork el T erminations, see below . Any horiz ontal termination ex cept a snorkel termination, must include: 1) Minimum rise of 24 in.

17 Fuel C onversion Procedure 1. T urn off gas supply to stove. 2. R emove the stov e T op Plate. 3. Disengage the two Glass F rame La tches at the top of the firebo x . See illustr ation on page 5. Car efully lift the glass panel up and out of the stov e.
18 Gas Supply C onnec tion The gas supply line connection is made to the valve just inside the left rear leg . The gas supply line should be 3/8" npt with a 1/2" diameter supply , or the appropriate siz e to provide sufficien t gas pressure to the valve r egardless of the input setting .
19 Gas Pressur e C orrect gas pressure is essential f or efficient and safe opera tion of the GF 300 D V gas stove. It is important that the correct pressure is established at the time of the installation. Proper gas pr essure provides a consistent flow of gas to the appliance and is instru- mental in checking for gas leak s.
20 Close Open Optional W all Thermostat or Remote C ontrol Use only a 750 milliv olt DC two-wire circuit thermostat with this appliance. The thermostat should be placed in the same room as the heater , typically 5 feet of f the floor . Av oid draf ty areas or any ar ea that ma y aff ect the accuracy of the thermostat .
21 Log Set Installation Brick Kit Note: Install the optional Antique Brick Kit 155370 before installing the logset. See page 27 and the instructions provided with that kit .
22 S ystem Check 1. PURGI NG T H E GAS LI NE: When lighting the appli- ance f or the first time, it will tak e a few moments to clear the gas line of air . Once this purge is complete, the appliance will opera te as described in the lighting instructions.
23 Oper ation F amiliarize yourself with the controls of the GF 300 DV . Make sure that any one else using the appliance is also familiar with the c ontrols and oper ation procedures. Alwa ys follow the Lighting Instructions on the inside back cov er of this manual and also located on the Rating Plate attached to the burner assembly .
24 Glass Care Clean the glass only when necessar y . W ipe the surface with a clean, dampened, soft cloth. F ollow with a dry , soft towel. T ake care not to scr atch the glass surface. WARNING: DO NO T USE ABRASIVE CLEANERS ON THE GLASS. NEVER CLEAN THE GLASS WHEN IT IS HOT .

26 Blower Oper ation The optional v ariable-speed blower will enhance heat circulation around the firebo x and out into the room. The blower is controlled by a heat activa ted switch (snapstat) that will ON L Y function when the con trol switch is in A UT O setting.
