4 GF 400 BV Sebago Specifications The Jøtul GF400 BV Sebago is a atmospherically- vented gas fir eplace heater designed only for vertical venting dir ectly t o the outside of the house, using listed, T ype B-vent pipe. Input Rates Natural Gas 40,000 BTU /hr .

6 Location In selecting a location f or the stove, consider the following poin ts: 1) Heat distribution 2) V ent termination requir ements 3) Gas supply line routing 4) T raf fic areas , furniture, draperies , etc .

8 V ent Requirements The GF 400 BV Sebago is specifically designed to oper ate using 4” T ype B vent pipe components or a Listed Fle xible gas liner . • All venting c omponents must be installed in accor - dance with the terms of their listing and manufa cturer’ s instructions.
9 • When 6” diameter decora tive pipe is installed to co ver the venting any Listed Flexible Gas liner must be connected directly to the stove ’ s draft hood. • Use of single wall c onnec tor pipe as a vent is prohibited f or use with the GF400 Sebago B- V ent stov e.

11 Fuel C onv ersion Procedure 1. T urn off gas supply to stove. 2. R emove the stov e T op Plate. 3. Disengage the two Glass Fr ame Latches at the top of the firebo x. See illustration on page 5. C arefully lif t the glass panel up and out of the stove.
12 7. Lift out the Burner Plate: NOTE : There are no screw s securing the Burner to the floor of the fir ebox. P ull the Air Shutter forw ard and lif t the burner together with shutter up and out of the stove as a unit. See fig . 13. 8. Change the Burner Orifice .
13 Gas Supply C onnec tion The gas supply line connection is made to the left side of the front -mounted v alve. The gas supply line should be 3/8" npt with a 1/2" diameter supply , or the appropriate size to pro vide sufficient gas pr essure to the v alve regardless of the input setting .
14 Gas Pressure Corr ect gas pressure is essential for ef ficient and safe opera tion of the GF 400 BV gas stov e. It is impor tant that the correct pressure is established a t the time of the installation. Proper gas pr essure provides a consistent flow of gas to the appliance and is instru- mental in checking for gas leaks.
15 Log Set Installation Brick Kit Note: Install the optional Antique Brick Kit 155370 before installing the logset. See page 22 and the instructions provided with that kit . The GF 400 BV logset must be installed before oper ating the burner . The logset includes six log pieces, and a bag of ember stones packaged inside the fir ebox.
16 Close Open Optional W all Thermostat or Remote C ontrol Use only a 750 milliv olt DC two-wire circuit thermostat with this appliance. The thermostat should be placed in the same room as the heater , typically 5 feet off the floor . Av oid dra fty ar eas or any ar ea that may affect the accuracy of the thermostat .
17 S ystem Check 1. PU RGI NG T HE GAS LI N E: When lighting the appli- ance for the first time, it will take a few moments to clear the gas line of air . Once this purge is complete, the appliance will opera te as described in the lighting instructions.
18 Oper ation F amiliarize yourself with the controls of the GF 400 BV . Make sure that anyone else using the appliance is also familiar with the c ontrols and opera tion procedures. Alwa ys follow the Lighting Instructions on the inside back cov er of this manual and also located on the Rating Plate attached to the burner assembly .
19 Glass Car e Clean the glass only when necessar y . Wipe the surface with a clean, dampened, soft cloth. Follow with a dry , sof t towel. T ake care not to scra tch the glass surface. WARNING: DO NO T USE ABRASIVE CLEANERS ON THE GLASS. NEVER CLEAN THE GLASS WHEN IT IS HOT .

21 Blower Oper ation The optional v ariable-speed blower will enhance heat circulation around the fir ebox and out into the room. The blower is controlled by a hea t ac tiva ted switch (snapstat) that will ON L Y func tion when the control switch is in A UT O setting .
22 1. Remov e the T op Plate. Simply lift if up off of the stove body . It is not fastened. 2. Remov e the Glass F rame. Disengage the two compression latches loca ted at the top of the firebox and lif t the glass frame up and off of the stov e. See Fig.
23 High Altitude Adjustment Installations burning natur al gas and located at altitudes from 2000 - 4500 f t . (610 M - 1370 M), requir e compen- sation f or the thinner air (less volume of air per cubic f oot). Higher altitudes aff ect the atmospheric pressure and heat value of gaseous fuels.
