English – 5 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Chain brake and hand guard Y our chain sa w is equipped with a chain brake that is designed to stop the chain immediately if you get a kic kback. The chain brak e reduces the risk of accidents, but only y ou can pre vent them.
6 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS • During felling y our left hand grasps the front handle in such a wa y that it cannot activate the chain brak e. In this position, i.e. when y our left hand is in such a position that it cannot aff ect the mov ement of the hand guard, the chain brak e can only be activated b y the iner tia of the counterweight.

8 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Checking the inertia brake release Hold the chain saw o v er a stump or other firm object. Let go of the front handle so that the bar drops tow ards the stump as the chain saw rotates around the rear handle . When the bar hits the stump the brake should be applied.
English – 9 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Vibration damping system Regularly check the vibration damping units f or cracks or def ormation. Make sure the vibr ation damping units are securely attached to the engine unit and handle unit. Stop switc h Star t the engine and make sure the engine stops when y ou mov e the stop switch to the stop setting.
10 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Cutting equipment designed to minimise kickbac k The only wa y to avoid kic kback is to make sure that the kickbac k zone of the bar nev er touches anything. By using cutting equipment with ”built-in” kickbac k reduction and keeping the chain sharp and well-maintained you can reduce the eff ects of kickbac k.

English – 13 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS T ension the chain as tightly as possible , but not so tight that you cannot pull it round freely b y hand. • Undo the bar nuts that hold the clutch cov er/chain brake . Use the combination spanner . Then tighten the bar n uts by hand as tight as y ou can.
14 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS • Check that the bar tip sproc ket tur ns freely and that the lubricating hole in the tip sprocket is not b locked. Clean and lubricate if necessar y . If the chain lubrication system is still not working after carr ying out the abov e checks and associated measures you should contact your service agent.
English – 15 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS How to a void kic kback What is kickbac k? The word kic kback is used to describe the sudden reaction that causes the chain saw and bar to jump off an object when the upper quadrant of the tip of the bar , known as the kic kback zone , touches an object.

20 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS If it is possible (can y ou tur n the log?) stop cutting about 2/3 of the wa y through the log. T urn the log and finish the cut from the opposite side. The log is supported at one end. There is a high risk that it will split.

26 – English FUEL HANDLING Fuel CA UTION! The machine is equipped with a two-strok e engine and must alwa ys been run using a mixture of petrol and two- stroke engine oil. It is important to accurately measure the amount of oil to be mix ed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained.
English – 27 FUEL HANDLING Chain oil • The chain lubrication system is automatic and we recommend the use of special oil (chain oil) with good adhesion characteristics. • In countries where no special chain oil is av ailable , EP90 transmission oil can be used.
28 – English ST ARTING AND ST OPPING Star ting and stopping Cold engine Starting: The chain brak e must be engaged when the chain saw is started. Activate the brak e by mo ving the front hand guard f orwards . Ignition; choke: Set the choke control in the chok e position.

30 – English MAINTENANCE Carb urettor Y our Jonsered product has been designed and manufactured to speci fi cations that reduce harmful exhaust fumes.
English – 31 MAINTENANCE Fine adjustment of the idle speed T Adjust the idle speed with the T -screw . If it is necessary to re- adjust, turn the T -screw cloc kwise while the engine is r unning, until the chain star ts to rotate. Then tur n anti-cloc kwise until the chain stops.
32 – English MAINTENANCE T ensioning the recoil spring • Hook the star ter cord in the notch in the pulley and turn the star ter pulley about 2 turns clockwise . CA UTION! Check that the pulley can be turned at least a fur ther 1/2 turn when the star ter cord is pulled all the way out.
English – 33 MAINTENANCE Muf fl er The muf fl er is designed to reduce the noise le vel and to direct the e xhaust gases aw a y from the operator . The exhaust gases are hot and can contain sparks, which ma y cause fi re if directed against dr y and comb ustible material.

Dir t and dust is centrifuged out by the cooling f an. IMPOR T ANT! In order to maintain operation of the centrifugal cleaning system it must be regularly maintained.
