HEARING PRO TECTION Wear hearing protection that provides adequate noise reduction. EYE PRO TECTION Alwa ys wear approv ed ey e protection.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 7 BOO TS Wear boots with steel toe-caps and non-slip sole . CLO THING Wear clothes made of a strong f abr ic and av oid loose clothing that can catch on twigs and branches. Alwa ys wear heavy , long pants. Do not wear jewellery , shor ts sandals or go barefoot.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 8 – English be chec ked. See instructions under the heading Maintenance. Stop s witch Use the stop s witch to switch off the engine . Star t the engine and make sure the engine stops when you mov e the stop switch to the stop setting.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 9 sa w . Certain har nesses also have a quic k release fitted to the suppor t hook. Check that the harness straps are correctly positioned. Once the harness and machine have been adjusted, check that the harness quick release works correctly .
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 10 – English should operate the sock et spanner when loosening or tightening the nut. The nylon lining inside the locking n ut must not be so worn that you can turn it by hand. The lining should off er a resistance of at least 1.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 11 Check the cutting attachment f or damage or crac ks. A damaged cutting attachment should alwa ys be replaced. Sharpening grass cutter s and grass blades • See the cutting attachment packaging f or correct sharpening instr uctions.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 12 – English T rimmer head • Only use the recommended trimmer heads and trimmer cords. These ha ve been tested b y the manuf acturer to suit a par ticular engine size. This is especially impor tant when a fully automatic trimmer head is used.
ASSEMBL Y English – 13 Fitting the handlebar • Remov e the screw at the rear of the throttle handle. • Slide the throttle handle onto the right side of the handlebar , (see diagram). • Align the screw hole in the throttle handle with the hole in the handlebar .
ASSEMBL Y 14 – English Fitting blades and trimmer heads Fitting a blade guar d, grass blade and grass cutter • Hook the blade guard/combination guard (A) onto the fitting on the shaft and secure with the bolt. CA UTION! Ensure that the guard e xtension is remov ed.
ASSEMBL Y English – 15 CA UTION! Alwa ys use the recommended guard for the cutting attachment you are using. See chapter on T echnical data. • Fit the drive disc (B) on the output shaft. • T ur n the blade shaft until one of the holes in the drive disc aligns with the corresponding hole in the gear housing.
ASSEMBL Y 16 – English Fitting other guards and cutting attachments • Fit the trimmer guard/combination guard (A) intended for use with the trimmer head/plastic blades . CA UTION! Ensure that the guard e xtension is fitted. Hang the trimmer guard/combination guard (A) on the two hooks on the plate holder (M).
ASSEMBL Y English – 17 Correct height 1 Forestry clearing Adjust the suppor t strap so that the support hook is around 10 cm below your hip . The blade should be angled forw ard a little. 2 Grass clearing The suppor t hook should hang around 20 cm below your hip so that the b lade is parallel to the ground.
FUEL HANDLING 18 – English Fuel safety Nev er star t the machine: 1 If you ha ve spilled fuel on it. Wipe off the spillage and allow remaining fuel to e vapor ate. 2 If you ha ve spilled fuel on y ourself or your clothes, change your clothes. W ash any part of your body that has come in contact with fuel.
FUEL HANDLING English – 19 Mixing • Alwa ys mix the gasoline and oil in a clean container intended for fuel. • Alwa ys star t by filling half the amount of the gasoline to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING 20 – English Check bef ore star ting For saf ety reasons follow these recommendations! • Check the b lade to ensure that no cracks ha ve f or med at the bottom of the teeth or by the centre hole.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING English – 21 Primer bulb: Press the air purge repeatedly until fuel begins to fill the bulb . The bulb need not be completely filled.
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES 22 – English General working instructions Basic safety rules 1 Look around you: • T o ensure that people, animals or other things cannot affect y our control of the machine.
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES English – 23 The ABC of c learing • Alwa ys use the correct equipment. • Make sure the equipment is well adjusted. • Follo w the safety precautions . • Organise your work carefully . • Alwa ys use full throttle when star ting to cut with the blade.
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES 24 – English conditions, so that cleared stems f all in the cleared area of the stand. Forestry clearing using a sa w blade • The risk of blade thrust increases with increasing stem size. Y ou should therefore a v oid cutting with the area of the blade between 12 o’cloc k and 3 o’clock.
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES English – 25 Brush cutting with a sa w blade • Thin stems and brush are mown down. W or k with a sawing mov ement, swinging sidewa ys. • T r y to cut sev eral stems in a single sa wing movement. • With groups of hardwood stems, first clear around the group .
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES 26 – English Cutting • The trimmer is ideal for cutting grass that is difficult to reach using a normal lawn mower . K eep the cord parallel to the ground when cutting. Av oid pressing the trimmer head against the ground as this can ruin the lawn and damage the tool.
MAINTENANCE English – 27 Carburetor Y our Jonsered product has been designed and manuf actured to specifications that reduce harmful exhaust fumes .
MAINTENANCE 28 – English Low speed jet L T r y to find the highest idling speed, turning the low speed needle L clockwise respectiv ely counter-clockwise . When the highest speed has been found, turn the low speed needle L 1/4 turn counter-clockwise.
MAINTENANCE English – 29 this screw (4 mm Allen scre w) to increase or decrease the star t throttle speed. Proceed as follo ws: 1 Run the machine at idle.
MAINTENANCE 30 – English Be vel gear The bev el gear is filled with the r ight amount of grease at the factory . Howev er, bef ore using the machine you should check that the be vel gear is filled 3/4 full with grease. Use JONSERED special grease.
English – 31 MAINTENANCE Maintenance schedule The follo wing is a list of the maintenance that must be perf ormed on the machine. Most of the items are described in the Maintenance section. The user must only carry out the maintenance and service work descr ibed in this manual.
