Prefabricated Chimneys If a prefabricated metal chimney is to be used it must be a chimney type that is tested and listed for use with solid fuel burning appliances. High T emperature (HT) Chimney Standard UL 103 for the U.S. and High T emperature S tandard ULC S-629 for Canada.
W ALL P ASS-THROUGHS When your installation unavoidably requires the chimney connector to pass through a combustible wall to reach the chimney , always consult your local building officials, and be sure any materials to be used have been tested and listed for wall pass-throughs.

CLEARANCES TO COMBUSTIBLES Floor Protection Floor protection under the stove, must be constructed of a non-combustible material for protection from radiant heat, sparks, and embers. Individual sections of floor protection must be mortared together to prevent sparks from falling through to combustible materials.
NOTICE Accessories for woodstoves for clearance reduction have been developed by many manufacturers. If not following the methods of the installation codes, be sure that any accessory you choose has been tested by an independent laboratory and carries the laboratorys testing mark.

Starting and Maintaining a Fire Burn only solid wood directly on the bottom grate of the stove, do not elevate the fire in any way . The ash pan door on the stove must always be securely closed when the stove is in operation. Burning the stove with the ashpan open will over-fire the stove and cause interior damage.

Ash removal will be required periodically depending on how frequently the stove is used.
