A jumper is a metal br idge used to close an electric cir- cuit. It consists of two metal pi ns and a small metal clip (often protected by a plastic cover) that slides over the pins to connect them.

The board has two display connecto rs: one for standard CR T VGA monitors, and one for L VDS flat panel displays.

29 4.2 Award BIOS setup A w ard’ s BIOS ROM has a built-in Set up program that allow s users to modify the basic system configu ration. This type of inform ation is stored in battery-backed CMOS RAM so that it reta ins the Setup in formation when the power is turned off.

If the stored record created by the Setup program should ever become corrupted (and therefore unusabl e), these defaults will load auto- matically when you turn th e PCI-6886 Series system on.
