Quick Start Set up the switch For complet e in stallation re quir ements, see the User Guide . 1 Remove the switch and parts fr om the box. 2 If you plan to install the switch in a 19- inch rack, remo ve the four fr ont panel screws on each side of th e un it, then use the screws included in the accessory kit to fasten the r ack-mount brackets.
2 Install additional power suppli es If you pu rcha s ed an additi onal po wer su p- ply , place it in one of the empty p ower supply bay s at th e top of the chassis . 1 Loosen an d remove the capture pan el screws on the face plate of t he power supply bay .
3 Plug i n the switch After you ’ve installed al l modu les, plug power cords into each installed power sup- ply at the back of the c hassis. Conne ct to devices After you have power ed on the swi tch, plug in the ne twork cables. Use the netwo rk module LEDs to ver ify link status and activity .
4 Management Options Configure and manage th e switc h Option 1: Local Management 1 Connect your PC d irectly to the Console port on the Control Processo r module using the included null modem cable. 2 Set a VT -100-compatib le terminal emulatio n program (s uch as Hyper T erminal*) to these parameters: 3 At the Password prom pt, press Enter .
5 Option 2: Intel® Device V iew Use Intel® Devi ce V iew if you want to manage other I ntel devices (s uch as hub s or swi tches) in addition to th e Intel NetStructure™ 60 00 Swit ch. For Intel Device V iew , use the following software: 1 Place the CD-ROM in the comp uter ’ s CD-ROM drive.
