PCI-6871 User’s Manual 12 2.5 Setting Jumpers Y ou may configu re your card to match the needs of your appl ication by setting jumper s. A jumper is a metal br idge used to close an electric cir- cuit. It consists of two metal pi ns and a small metal clip (often protected by a plastic cover) that slides over the pins to connect them.
13 Chapter 2 Installation 2.6 Clear CMOS (JP1) This jumper is used to erase CMOS data and reset system BIOS informa- tion. The procedure for clearing CMOS is: 1. T urn off the system. 2. Short pi n 2 and pin 3. 3. Return jump er to pins 1 an d 2. 4. T urn on the system.
PCI-6871 User’s Manual 14 2.7 Installing system memory (SODIMMs) You can install anywhere from 32 to 512 MB of SDRAM in to your PCI-6871 Se- ries card. The card pro vides two 144-p in SODIMM sockets. Each socket ac- cepts 32/64/128/256/512 MB 3.3 V power level SODIMMs.
15 Chapter 2 Installation Important: Only use standard form SODIMM memory modules (as shown in the diagram below) . Standardized dimensions ensure a proper fit.
PCI-6871 User’s Manual 16 2.8.1 Connecting the hard drive Connecting drives is done in a daisy-ch ain fashion. It requires one of two cables (not included in this package) , dependin g on the drive size. 1.8" and 2.5" drives need a 1 x 44-pin to 2 x 44-pin flat-cable connector .
