3 ENGLISH Setup Har dware Requirements This Monitor requires a computer with a suitable on-board sub-system or Video Adapter card that can suppor t SXGA 1280 x 1024 at 75 Hz. W orkplace Preparation P ositioning the Monitor This section gives advice on what you should consider before you set up your monitor.
4 W orking Practices Rest T ake regular breaks . V ar y your posture, stand up and stretch occasionally as prolonged use of computer workstations can be tiring. This section gives advice on how you can work comfortably and reduce fatigue. Back Y ou should sit back in y our chair and use the backrest.
5 ENGLISH Connecting y our Monitor Be sure to read the ‘Safety Information’ at the front of this User Guide before carrying out this procedure. 1. With the monitor standing vertically and at it’ s greatest height, remov e the cable co ver at the rear of the monitor .
6 6. Connect the A C Adapter as shown. 7. Slide the cable co ver up to fit it into the monitor while depressing the par ts at A , and make sure that the y are hooked in to the monitor Be careful not to pinch the video signal cable into between the rear cover and the cable cover .
7 ENGLISH Switching on the Monitor Switch on the pow er source and PC . T o tur n on the monitor , push and release the pow er s witch. T o switch it off , push and release the power s witch again. Adjusting the Monitor P osition Viewing Angle Y ou can tilt the screen backward or rotate the monitor to the left or right, as shown belo w .
8 Conf iguring your Monitor A utomatic Setup The Setup Utility included on the setup option diskettes are for displaying color-bar patterns. They do not replace or modify the display driver. When you first use y our monitor you must perf or m Automatic (auto) Setup .
9 ENGLISH Monitor Inf ormation Diskette f or Windows 95 T o utilise the Plug and Pla y fe ature in Windows 95, files should be loaded from the IBM Color LCD Monitor Installation diskette as f ollows : 1. T ur n off the computer and all attached de vices.
10 Auto Setup for the PC Check the oper ating system installed on your PC and f ollow the instructions from the table belo w . Before carrying out this section it is very important that The Monitor Information Diskette for Windows 95 and Windows 98 has been run.
11 ENGLISH A uto Setup for DOS 1. T ur n on the monitor first; then the PC . If the message UNSUPPOR TED VIDEO is displa yed, or if nothing is displa yed check: • that the video interf ace cable is connected properly . • the correct video adapter card is installed (see Video Adapters on page 40).

26 Auto Setup for the HP W orkstation 1. T urn on the pow er of the monitor , then the workstation. If the message UNSUPPOR TED VIDEO is displa yed, or if nothing is displa yed • check that the video interf ace cable is connected properly .
27 ENGLISH 9. Select A UT O SETUP and press the contr ast b utton . “OFF” automatically changes to “READ Y” and then to “COMPLETED ,” and setup ends automatically .
28 Manual Setup Normally , you can complete the setup procedure using auto setup . Howe ver , if your screen image is still distorted after you perf orm auto setup, perf or m manual setup . 1. W ait for about 15 minutes , until the monitor wa r ms up .
29 ENGLISH Quic k Setup This procedure does not displa y a color-bar patter n before the setup main menu. T o obtain better image quality , you should perf orm auto setup according to the procedures on the preceding pages with the setup option diskettes f or PC-DOS, Window 3.
30 User controls Fr ont of screen contr ols The front of screen user controls allow the user to turn the monitor on and off, adjust the brightness and contrast of the monitor to meet the users pref erences, and also to gain access to intermediate and advanced On- Screen Displa y Controls.
31 ENGLISH On-screen displa y (OSD) controls T o displa y the OSD , press the setup switch on the bac k of the monitor as shown. There are eight menus within the OSD . These menus contain the f ollow ing functions which can be divided into f our le v els of adjustment : basic, intermediate, adv anced and specialised.

35 ENGLISH T roubleshooting If you suspect something is not w orking correctly , you should : 1. T ur n on the computer and monitor . 2. Set the brightness control to the proper position. 3. Ensure that all cables are securely connected. 4. Disable standb y mode if it is enab led.

Sync Signal T ype The f ollowing Sync signal types are supported : • Separate sync (TTL lev el). • Sync on green *. • Composite sync (TTL lev el). * Horizontal sync pulses must not be suppressed during the vertical sync period.
38 Supported Screen Addressability The f ollowing tab le shows the supported screen resolutions : The input signal to this monitor should correspond with the screen resolutions, Hsync frequencies and Vsync frequencies shown in the table.
