Please tak e the pr oper precautions when handling the drive. Avoid touching the IDE connector pins as well as the audio connec tor pins and the jum per pins .

8 Conn ecting t o a Primary IDE Con troller There s hould be at leas t one IDE c ontroller (or c ard) on the PC m otherboar d. T his IDE controller support two devices, one for the hard dis k ( Master) , and the other f or the 2 nd hard disk or a CD-ROM drive.
9 3 Locate an av ailable 5 ¼ driv e bay. Locate an empty 5 ¼ drive bay within y our c omputer. It m ay be necessary to remove a square iron plate. Pleas e refer to your computer’s User’s Guide for assistanc e. 4 Slide the M agicDVD 16X M ult i-Purpose DVD- ROM drive in to the emp ty bay.
10 6 Connect the IDE cable into the E-IDE Interface connector on the back of your MagicDVD 16X M u lti-Purpo se DVD-ROM . Connect the 40-pin IDE cable into the Magic DVD 16X Multi-Pur pose DVD-ROM drive’s E-IDE c onnector. Mak e sur e to align the red-lined edge of cable with Pin-1 of the IDE connector.
11 Driver Installation Windows 95/98 In stallat ion 1 Turn on your PC to s tart-up your Windows 95 / 98 Opera ting Syste m. Note : Refer to the troubleshooting section of this manual if y our MagicDVD 16X Multi- Purpose DVD-RO M drive is not automatically detected by W indows.
12 Note: If the inst allation program does not launch automatic ally , follow these steps: 1) Click on the “ St art ” button on the tas k bar and select “ Run ”. 2) Click on the “ Brow se ” button. 3) Browse to the letter dr ive of your CD-ROM.

In general, the whole world is divided into six regions and users are only allow ed to play back Holly wood titles of the region they are located in.
16 For Windows 95 Since W indows 95 retail vers ion does not suppor t an em bedded DMA m ode as OSR2 or W indows 98 does, y ou have to install a third-par ty bus-master driver, suc h as one from T rio.
17 1. To play bac k MPEG files , first m ak e sur e that File Mode is cu rrently on. If CD Mode is the c urrent mode, jus t click on the button to toggle to MPEG F ile Mode. 2. Press the Menu button. The Play List will appear, which allows you to select MPEG files for playback.

20 MagicDVD driv es cannot accept DIVX discs . DIVX discs are purchased, and w ith it, y ou get a 48-hour viewing period that k ick s in when you insert a Divx disc and pr ess "play .
21 What's a h ybrid DVD? Any of the f ollowing: A disc that work s in both DVD-Video players and DVD-ROM PCs . (More accur ately called a m ultizone DVD, but probably the mos t com m on use of the term hybrid.) A DVD-ROM disc that runs on W indows and Mac O S com puters.
22 5. Loc ate the check box labeled AUTO INSERT NOT IFICATIO N and clic k on the check box to selec t it. 6. Click on OK to save the change. At this point, y ou m ay need to restart W indows 95 98 for the change to bec om e active.
