MA CHINE´S SAFETY EQUIPMENT English – 7 General This section describes the machine´s safety equipment, its purpose, and how checks and maintenance should be carried out to ensure that it operates correctly . Throttle loc kout The throttle trigger lock is designed to prev ent accidental operation of the throttle.
MA CHINE´S SAFETY EQUIPMENT 8 – English Blade guard This guard is fitted abov e the cutting blade and is designed to prev ent par ts of the b lade or cutting fragments from being thrown to wards the user . Checking the blade and the b lade guard • Check that the guard ov er the cutting blade is not crack ed or damaged in any other wa y .
CUTTING BLADES English – 9 General • Cutting blades are a vailable in tw o basic designs; abrasive b lades and diamond blades . • High-quality blades are often most economical.
CUTTING BLADES 10 – English Abrasive blades • The cutting material on abrasive b lades consists of grit bonded using an organic binder . ”Reinforced blades” are made up of a f abric or fibre base that prev ents total breakage at maximum working speed if the blade should be crac ked or damaged.
CUTTING BLADES English – 11 Diamond blades and cooling • During cutting the friction in the cut causes the diamond blade to be heated up . If the blade is allo wed to get too hot this can result in loss of blade tensioning or core cracking.
ASSEMBLING AND ADJUSTMENTS 12 – English General Husqvarna’ s blades are high speed b lades approved f or hand held power cutters . Checking the drive shaft and flange washers When the blade is replaced with a ne w one, check the flange washers and the drive shaft.
ASSEMBLING AND ADJUSTMENTS English – 13 Disengaging OilGuar d (K760 OilGuard) • When the machine is delivered, the OilGuard plug (A) and the blue indicator pin (B) are fitted in the tank.
FUEL HANDLING 14 – English General Fuel P etrol • Use good quality unleaded or leaded petrol. • The lowest octane recommended is 90 (R ON). If you run the engine on a lower octane grade than 90 so- called knocking can occur . This gives rise to a high engine temperature, which can result in serious engine damage.
FUEL HANDLING English – 15 Fueling Nev er star t the machine: • If you ha ve spilt fuel or engine oil on the machine. Wipe off the spill and allow the remaining fuel to ev aporate. • If you ha ve spilt fuel on yourself or y our clothes, change your clothes.
OPERA TING 16 – English Protective equipment General • Do not use the machine unless you are ab le to call for help in the ev ent of an accident. P ersonal protective equipment Y ou must use approv ed personal protective equipment whenev er you use the machine .
OPERA TING English – 17 W ork area safety • Observe your surroundings to ensure that nothing can affect y our control of the machine. • Ensure that no one/nothing can come into contact with the cutting equipment or be hit by parts thrown by the blade.
OPERA TING 18 – English • Maintain a safe distance from the cutting b lade when the engine is running. • Nev er leav e the machine unsupervised with the motor running. • Nev er mov e the machine when the cutting equipment is rotating. The machine is equipped with a friction retarder to shor ten the blade stop time .
OPERA TING English – 19 Risk area No persons that do not hav e the protective equipment described above shall be allo wed inside the risk area for thrown material. Blade speed Apply the cutting blade gently with high rotating speed (full throttle) Maintain full speed until cutting is complete.
OPERA TING 20 – English Kickbac k zone Nev er use the kickbac k zone of the blade f or cutting . If the blade is pinched or stalled in the kic kback zone , the reactive f orce will push the power cutter up and bac k towards the user in a rotating motion causing serious or ev en fatal injury .
OPERA TING English – 21 How to aviod kic kback A voiding kickbac k is simple. • The work piece must alwa ys be suppor ted so that the cut stays open when cutting through. When the cut opens there is no kickbac k. If the cut closes and pinches the blade there is alwa ys a r isk of kickbac k.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING 22 – English Before starting • P erform daily maintenance. See instr uctions in the section "Maintenance". Starting With a cold engine: • Make sure that the stop s witch (ST OP) is in the left position. • Star t throttle position and choke is obtained b y pulling out the choke control completely .
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING English – 23 With a warm engine: • Make sure that the stop s witch (ST OP) is in the left position. • Set the choke control in the chok e position.
24 – English MAINTENANCE General • Let your Husqv arna dealer regular ly check the machine and mak e essential adjustments and repairs. Maintenance schedule In the maintenance schedule you can see which parts of your machine that require maintenance, and with which intervals it should take place.
MAINTENANCE English – 25 Cleaning External cleaning • Clean the machine daily by rinsing it with clean water after the work is finished. Cooling air intake • Clean the cooling air intake when needed.
MAINTENANCE 26 – English Replacing the drive belt • First release the two bolts and then the adjuster screw to release the belt tension. • Now unscrew the bolts and dismantle the belt guard. • Remov e the belt from the belt pulley . • The cutting head is now loose and can be remov ed from the machine.
MAINTENANCE English – 27 Starter Changing a broken or w orn starter cord • Loosen the screws that hold the starter against the crankcase and remov e the star ter . • Pull the cord out about 30 cm and lift it into the cut-out in the peripher y of the starter pulley .
MAINTENANCE 28 – English Changing a broken recoil spring • Undo the bolt in the centre of the pulley and remov e the pulley . • Bear in mind that the return spr ing lies tensioned in the star ter housing. • Loosen the bolts holding the spring cassette.
