GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 8 – English • The brake is applied when the front hand guard (B) is pushed forw ards. • This mov ement activates a spring-loaded mechanism that tightens the brake band (C) around the engine drive system (D) (clutch drum).

When the chain is blunt y ou hav e to ex er t more pressure to f orce the bar through the wood and the chips will be very small.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 13 General advice on adjusting depth gauge setting • When you sharpen the cutting tooth (A) the depth gauge setting (C) will decrease. T o maintain optimal cutting performance the depth gauge (B) has to be filed down to achie v e the recommended depth gauge setting.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 14 – English Lubricating cutting equipment Chain oil Chain oil must demonstrate good adhesion to the chain and also maintain its flow characteristics regardless of whether it is warm summer or cold winter weather .
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 15 Regular ly check the degree of wear on the drive sproc ket. Replace if wear is e xcessive. Replace the dr ive sproc ket whenev er you replace the chain. Needle bearing lubrication Both v ersions of sproc kets hav e a needle bearing on the drive shaft, which has to be greased regularly (once a week).
ASSEMBL Y 16 – English Fitting the bar and chain Check that the chain brak e is in disengaged position by moving the front hand guard tow ards the front handle. Remov e the bar nuts and remo v e the clutch cov er (chain br ake). T ake off the transportation r ing (A).
FUEL HANDLING English – 17 Fuel Note! The machine is equipped with a two-stroke engine and must alwa ys be run using a mixture of petrol and two- stroke oil. It is important to accurately measure the amount of oil to be mixed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained.
FUEL HANDLING 18 – English Fuelling Clean the area around the fuel cap. Clean the fuel and chain oil tanks regularly . The fuel filter must be replaced at least once a year . Contamination in the tanks causes malfunction. Make sure the fuel is w ell mixed b y shaking the container before refuelling.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING English – 19 Starting and stopping Cold engine Starting: The chain brake must be engaged when the chain saw is started. Activate the brak e by moving the front hand guard forw ards. Ignition; choke: Set the choke control in the chok e position.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING 20 – English Push in the choke control as soon as the engine fires and keep pulling until the engine starts. When the engine star ts, quic kly apply full throttle; the throttle star t lock will automatically disengage.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 21 Bef ore use: 1 Check that the chain brak e w orks correctly and is not damaged. 2 Check that the rear right hand guard is not damaged. 3 Check that the throttle loc kout works correctly and is not damaged. 4 Check that the stop s witch works correctly and is not damaged.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 22 – English Fit a guard to the bar before tr anspor ting the chain saw or carrying it for any distance . 7 When you put the chain sa w on the ground, lock the sa w chain using the chain brak e and ensure you ha ve a constant view of the machine.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 23 the saw chain is jamming, the sa w may be pushed back at y ou. 8 Unless the user resists this pushing force there is a r isk that the chain saw will mov e so far bac kwards that only the kickbac k zone of the bar is in contact with the tree, which will lead to a kickbac k.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 24 – English Limbing When limbing thick branches y ou should use the same approach as for cutting. Cut difficult branches piece by piece . Cutting If you ha ve a pile of logs, each log y ou attempt to cut should be remov ed from the pile, placed on a saw horse or runners and cut individually .
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 25 Felling direction The aim is to fell the tree in a position where y ou can limb and cross-cut the log as easily as possible.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 26 – English Ne xt mak e the bottom cut so that it finishes e xactly at the end of the top cut. The directional cuts should run 1/4 of the diameter through the trunk and the angle between the top cut and bottom cut should be 45 ° .
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 27 Freeing a tree that has fallen badl y Freeing a ”trapped tree” It is very dangerous to remove a tr apped tree and there is high accident risk. Nev er try to fell the tree that is trapped. Nev er work in the risk zone of the hanging trapped tree.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 28 – English Ho w to a v oid kickbac k What is kic kback? The word kickbac k is used to describe the sudden reaction that causes the chain saw and bar to jump off an object when the upper quadrant of the tip of the bar , known as the kickbac k zone, touches an object.
MAINTENANCE English – 29 General The user must only carry out the maintenance and service work descr ibed in this manual. Carburettor adjustment Due to existing en vironmental and emissions legislation your chain sa w is equipped with movement limiters on the carburettor adjuster scre ws.
MAINTENANCE 30 – English ev ery position and the engine speed should be safely below the speed at which the chain starts to rotate. High speed jet H At the factory the engine is adjusted at sea level.
MAINTENANCE English – 31 Checking the inertia brake release Place the chain saw , with the engine s witched off , on a stump or other stable surf ace. Release the front handle and let the saw f all b y its own weight, rotating around the rear handle towards the stump .
MAINTENANCE 32 – English Chain catcher Chec k that the chain catcher is not damaged and is firmly attached to the body of the chain saw . Right hand guar d Chec k that the right hand guard is not damaged and that there are no visible def ects, such as crac ks.
MAINTENANCE English – 33 The muffler is designed to reduce the noise le vel and to direct the exhaust gases a wa y from the operator . The exhaust gases are hot and can contain sparks, which ma y cause fire if directed against dry and combustible material.
MAINTENANCE 34 – English Fitting the starter • T o fit the star ter, first pull out the starter cord and place the star ter in position against the crankcase. Then slowly release the starter cord so that the pulley engages with the pawls. • Fit and tighten the screws that hold the starter.
MAINTENANCE English – 35 Adjustment of the oil pump The oil pump is adjustable. Adjustments are made by turning the screw using a screwdriver or combination spanner .
