GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 9 • This mov ement activates a spring-loaded mechanism that tightens the brake band (C) around the engine driv e system (D) (clutch drum). • The front hand guard is not designed solely to activate the chain brake .
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 10 – English Will m y hand alwa ys activate the chain brake during a kickbac k? No . It takes a certain force to mov e the hand guard forw ard. If your hand only lightly touches the front guard or slips ov er it, the force ma y not be enough to trigger the chain brake .

GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 13 Sharpening y our chain and adjusting depth gauge setting General information on sharpening cutting teeth • Nev er use a blunt chain. When the chain is blunt y ou hav e to ex er t more pressure to f orce the bar through the wood and the chips will be very small.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 14 – English General advice on adjusting depth gauge setting • When you sharpen the cutting tooth (A) the depth gauge setting (C) will decrease. T o maintain optimal cutting performance the depth gauge (B) has to be filed down to achiev e the recommended depth gauge setting.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 15 Lubricating cutting equipment Chain oil Chain oil must demonstrate good adhesion to the chain and also maintain its flow characteristics regardless of whether it is warm summer or cold winter weather . As a chain saw manuf acturer we ha ve de veloped an optimal chain oil which has a vegetab le oil base.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 16 – English Chain drive sproc ket The clutch drum is fitted with one of the follo wing drive sprock ets: A Spur sprock et (the chain sprocket is w elded on the drum) B Rim sprock et (replaceable) Regularly check the degree of wear on the drive sproc ket.
ASSEMBL Y English – 17 Fitting the bar and chain Check that the chain brak e is in disengaged position by moving the front hand guard tow ards the front handle. Remov e the bar nuts and remov e the clutch cover (chain brake). T ake off the transportation ring (A).
FUEL HANDLING 18 – English Fuel Note! The machine is equipped with a two-stroke engine and must alwa ys be run using a mixture of gasoline and two- stroke oil. It is impor tant to accurately measure the amount of oil to be mixed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained.
FUEL HANDLING English – 19 • It is impor tant to use oil of the right grade (suitable viscosity range) to suit the air temperature. • In temperatures below 32 ° F (0 ° C) some oils become too viscous. This can o verload the oil pump and result in damage to the oil pump components.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING 20 – English Starting and stopping Cold engine Starting: The chain brake should be activ ated when star ting the chain saw . Activ ate the chain brake b y pushing the front hand guard forw ards. Ignition; choke: Set the choke control in the chok e position.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING English – 21 latch in order to av oid unnecessery wear on the clutch assembly . CA UTION! Do not pull the star ter cord all the wa y out and do not let go of the star ter handle when the cord is fully extended. This can damage the machine .
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 22 – English Bef ore use: 1 Check that the chain brak e works correctly and is not damaged. 2 Check that the rear right hand guard is not damaged. 3 Check that the throttle loc kout works correctly and is not damaged. 4 Check that the stop s witch works correctly and is not damaged.
WORKING TECHNIQUES English – 23 6 Before mo ving your chain saw s witch off the engine and lock the chain using the chain brak e. Carry the chain saw with the bar and chain pointing backwards . Fit a guard to the bar before tr anspor ting the chain saw or carrying it for any distance.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 24 – English saw chain is jamming, the sa w may be pushed bac k at you. 8 Unless the user resists this pushing force there is a risk that the chain saw will mov e so f ar backwards that only the kickbac k zone of the bar is in contact with the tree, which can lead to a kickbac k.
WORKING TECHNIQUES English – 25 Limbing When limbing thick br anches you should use the same approach as for cutting. Cut difficult branches piece by piece . Cutting If you ha ve a pile of logs, each log y ou attempt to cut should be remov ed from the pile, placed on a saw horse or runners and cut individually .
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 26 – English T ree felling technique Safe distance The safe distance betw een a tree that is to be felled and anyone else w orking nearby is at least 2 1/2 tree lengths. Make sure that no-one else is in this ”risk zone” bef ore or during felling.
WORKING TECHNIQUES English – 27 Felling Felling is done using three cuts . First you mak e the directional cuts, which consist of the top cut and the bottom cut, then you finish with the f elling cut. By placing these cuts correctly you can control the f elling direction very accurately .
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 28 – English When the f elling cut and directional cut are complete the tree should star t to fall b y itself or with the aid of a felling w edge or breaking bar .
WORKING TECHNIQUES English – 29 Never cut straight thr ough a tree or branch that is in tension! If you must cut across tree/limb , mak e two to three cuts, one inch apar t, one to two inches deep . Continue to cut deeper until tree/limb bends and tension is released.
MAINTENANCE 30 – English General The user must only carry out the maintenance and ser vice work described in this manual. More extensiv e work must be carried out by an authorised ser vice workshop. Carburetor adjustment Y our Husqvarna product has been designed and manuf actured to specifications that reduce har mful emissions.
MAINTENANCE English – 31 Checking the inertia brake release With the engine turned off, hold the chain sa w over a stump or other firm object. Let go of the front handle so that the bar drops towards the stump as the chain sa w rotates around the rear handle.
MAINTENANCE 32 – English Chain catcher Check that the chain catcher is not damaged and is firmly attached to the body of the chain saw . Right hand guar d Check that the right hand guard is not damaged and that there are no visible def ects, such as crac ks.
MAINTENANCE English – 33 muffler if the spark arrestor screen is missing or defective. The muffler is designed to reduce the noise le vel and to direct the exhaust gases a wa y from the operator . The exhaust gases are hot and can contain sparks, which ma y cause fire if directed against dry and combustible material.
MAINTENANCE 34 – English Fitting the starter • T o fit the star ter, first pull out the starter cord and place the star ter in position against the crankcase. Then slo wly release the star ter cord so that the pulley engages with the pawls. • Fit and tighten the screws that hold the starter.
MAINTENANCE English – 35 Lubricating the bar tip sproc ket Lubricate the bar tip sprocket each time y ou refuel. Use the special grease gun and a good quality bearing grease. Needle bearing lubrication The clutch drum has a needle bearing on the output shaft.
MAINTENANCE 36 – English ”Air Injection” centrifugal cleaning Centrifugal cleaning means the following: All air to the carburetor passes through the starter. Dir t and dust is pushed out by the cooling f an. IMPORT ANT! In order to maintain operation of the centrifugal cleaning system it must be regularly maintained.
