The machine ′ s vibration damping system reduces the tr ansf er of vibration between the engine unit/cutting equipment and the machine ′ s handle unit.

T o maintain optimal cutting perf ormance the depth gauge (B) has to be filed down to achie ve the recommended depth gauge setting.

English – 17 FUEL HANDLING Fuel CA UTION! The machine is equipped with a two-strok e engine and must alwa ys been run using a mixture of petrol and two- stroke engine oil. It is impor tant to accurately measure the amount of oil to be mix ed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained.
18 – English FUEL HANDLING Fuelling Clean the area around the fuel cap . Clean the fuel and chain oil tanks regularly . The fuel filter m ust be replaced at least once a year . Contamination in the tanks causes malfunction. Make sure the fuel is w ell mix ed by shaking the container bef ore refuelling.
English – 19 ST ARTING AND ST OPPING Starting and stopping Cold engine Starting: The chain brak e must be engaged when the chain saw is started. Activate the brak e by mo ving the front hand guard f orwards . Ignition: Slide the ignition s witch to the left.
20 – English ST ARTING AND ST OPPING Note! Reactiv ate the chain brak e b y pushing the front hand guard back to wards the front handle . The chain saw is now ready f or use. • Ne ver start a chain saw unless the bar , chain and clutch cov er are fitted correctly .
English – 21 W ORKING TECHNIQUES Bef ore use: 1 Check that the chain br ake w orks correctly and is not damaged. 2 Check that the rear right hand guard is not damaged. 3 Check that the throttle loc k works correctly and is not damaged. 4 Check that the stop s witch works correctly and is not damaged.
22 – English W ORKING TECHNIQUES 5 T ake great care when cutting a tree that is in tension. A tree that is in tension ma y spring back to its normal position bef ore or after being cut. If you position y ourself incorrectly or make the cut in the wrong place the tree ma y hit you or the machine and cause y ou to lose control.
English – 23 W ORKING TECHNIQUES 7 T ake great care when y ou cut with the top edge of the bar , i.e. when cutting from the underside of the object. This is known as cutting on the push strok e. The chain tries to push the chain saw bac k towards the user .
24 – English W ORKING TECHNIQUES Limbing When limbing thic k branches y ou should use the same approach as f or cutting. Cut difficult branches piece b y piece. Cutting If you ha ve a pile of logs, each log y ou attempt to cut should be remov ed from the pile, placed on a saw horse or runners and cut individually .
English – 25 W ORKING TECHNIQUES T ree felling tec hnique Safe distance The saf e distance between a tree that is to be f elled and any one else working nearby is at least 2 1/2 tree lengths . Make sure that no-one else is in this ”risk zone” before or during felling.
26 – English W ORKING TECHNIQUES Felling F elling is done using three cuts. First you make the directional cuts, which consist of the top cut and the bottom cut, then y ou finish with the f elling cut. By placing these cuts correctly you can control the f elling direction very accurately .
English – 27 W ORKING TECHNIQUES When the f elling cut and directional cut are complete the tree should star t to f all by itself or with the aid of a f elling wedge or breaking bar .
28 – English W ORKING TECHNIQUES Never cut straight thr ough a tree or branch that is in tension! If you m ust cut across tree/limb , make two to three cuts, one inch apar t, one to two inches deep . Continue to cut deeper until tree/limb bends and tension is released.
English – 29 MAINTENANCE General The user must only carry out the maintenance and ser vice work described in this manual. Carb urettor adjustment The carb urettor can be designed in diff erent wa ys, depending on e xisting environmental and emissions legislation.
30 – English MAINTENANCE Low speed jet L T ur n the low speed jet L cloc kwise until it stops. If the engine accelerates poorly or idles unev enly , tur n the low speed jet L anticlockwise until good acceler ation and idling are achie ved.
English – 31 MAINTENANCE Fine adjustment When the machine has been ”run-in” the carburettor should be finely adjusted. The fine adjustment should be carr ied out by a qualified person. First adjust the L-jet, then the idling screw T and then the H-jet.
32 – English MAINTENANCE Checking the fr ont hand guard Mak e sure the front hand guard is not damaged and that there are no visible def ects such as cracks. Mov e the front hand guard forwards and bac k to mak e sure it mov es freely and that it is securely anchored to the clutch cov er.
English – 33 MAINTENANCE • Check that the throttle control and throttle loc k move freely and that the return spr ings work properly . • Star t the chain saw and apply full throttle . Release the throttle control and check that the chain stops and remains stationar y .
34 – English MAINTENANCE Note! The mesh must be replaced if it is damaged. If the mesh is bloc ked the machine will ov erheat and this will cause damage to the cylinder and piston. Nev er use a machine with a muffler that is in poor condition. Never use a m uffler if the spark arrestor mesh is missing or defective.
English – 35 MAINTENANCE Fitting the starter • T o fit the star ter , first pull out the star ter cord and place the star ter in position against the crankcase. Then slowly release the star ter cord so that the pulley engages with the pawls . • Fit and tighten the screws that hold the starter .
36 – English MAINTENANCE Needle bearing lubrication The clutch drum has a needle bearing on the output shaft. This needle bearing must be lubricated regular ly (once a week). When lubr icating, remov e the clutch cover b y loosening the two bar nuts .
English – 37 MAINTENANCE T emperature 0 ° ° ° ° C or colder: F or running the machine in cold weather or powder snow , a special cov er is availab le, which is mounted on the starter housing. This reduces the intake of cold air and prev ents large amounts of snow from being suc ked in.
