10 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Cutting attachment guar d This guard is intended to pre vent loose objects from being thrown to wards the operator . The guard also protects the operator from accidental contact with the cutting attachment. Check that the guard is undamaged and not cr acked.

14 – English ASSEMBL Y Assembling the handlebar and thr ottle CA UTION! Some models hav e the throttle handle fitted at the f actor y . • Remov e the screw at the rear of the throttle handle . • Slide the throttle handle onto the right side of the handlebar , (see diagram).
English – 15 ASSEMBL Y Assembling the cutting equipment Fitting the blade guar d/combination guar d, grass blade and ball-bearing- mounted suppor t cup • Hang the trimmer guard/combination guard (A) on the two hooks on the plate holder (M). Bend the guard around the shaft and tighten it with the bolt (L) on the opposite side of the shaft.

English – 17 ASSEMBL Y • Tighten the trimmer head to a torque of 35-50 Nm (3.5-5 kpm). • T o dismantle, f ollow the instructions in the rev erse order . Fitting other guar ds and cutting attachments Fit the trimmer guard/combination guard (A) intended for use with the trimmer head/plastic blades.
18 – English ASSEMBL Y T riobalance harness Safety release Push down the red release le ver to release the machine from the harness. Adjusting the harness 1 Tighten the hip strap so that it sits securely . 2 Tighten the chest strap under y our left ar m so that it fits closely around your body .
English – 19 FUEL HANDLING Fuel safety Ne ver star t the machine: 1 If you ha ve spilled fuel on it. Wipe off the spillage and allow remaining fuel to e vaporate . 2 If you ha ve spilled fuel on y ourself or your clothes , change your clothes . W ash any part of your body that has come in contact with fuel.
20 – English FUEL HANDLING Mixing • Alwa ys mix the gasoline and oil in a clean container intended f or fuel. • Alwa ys star t by filling half the amount of the gasoline to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture.
English – 21 ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Chec k before starting • Check the b lade to ensure that no cracks ha ve f ormed at the bottom of the teeth or by the centre hole .
22 – English ST AR TING AND ST OPPING P ART THRO TTLE FUNCTION (RX): It is possible to set the engine f or par t throttle operation using the dial on the side of the throttle handle. T ur n the dial up to decrease the par t throttle rpm. T ur n the dial down to increase the par t throttle rpm.
English – 23 W ORKING TECHNIQUES General w orking instructions Basic safety rules 1 Look around you: • T o ensure that people, animals or other things cannot aff ect your control of the machine.
24 – English W ORKING TECHNIQUES W orking methods • Bef ore you star t clearing, check the clearing area, the type of terrain, the slope of the ground, whether there are stones, hollo ws etc. • Star t at whiche ver end of the area is easiest, and clear an open space from which to work.
English – 25 W ORKING TECHNIQUES • T o fell a tree f orwards , the bottom of the tree should be pulled backw ards. Pull the blade backw ards with a quick, firm movement. • Large stems must be cut from two sides . First determine which direction the stem will f all.
26 – English W ORKING TECHNIQUES Grass trimming with a trimmer head T rimming • Hold the trimmer head just above the g round at an angle. It is the end of the cord that does the work. Let the cord work at its own pace. Nev er press the cord into the area to be cut.
English – 27 MAINTENANCE Carb uretor Y our Husqvarna product has been designed and manuf actured to specifications that reduce har mful emissions. After the engine has used 8-10 tanks of fuel the engine will be run-in.
28 – English MAINTENANCE Fine adjustment of the idle speed T Adjust the idle speed using the idle adjustment screw T , if it is necessar y to readjust. First tur n the idle adjustment screw T clockwise until the cutting attachment starts to rotate. Then turn the screw anticlockwise until the cutting attachment stops.
English – 29 MAINTENANCE 4 If the star t throttle speed is too high, turn the adjuster screw A anticloc kwise until the cutting attachment stops. Then turn adjuster screw A clockwise a further 1/2 tur n. Muffler CA UTION! Some mufflers are fitted with a catalytic conv er ter .
