English – 11 GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Bar • Length (inches/cm) • Number of teeth on bar tip sprock et (T). • Chain pitch (inches). The spacing between the drive links of the chain m ust match the spacing of the teeth on the bar tip sprock et and drive sproc ket.

See instr uctions under the heading T echnical data f or inf or mation on the size of file and gauge that are recommended f or the chain fitted to your chain sa w .
English – 13 GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS • Loosen the bar nut that holds the clutch cov er and chain brak e. Use the combination spanner . • Raise the tip of the bar and stretch the chain by tightening the chain tensioning scre w using the combination spanner .
14 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS • Check that the bar tip sproc ket turns freely and that the lubricating hole in the tip sprocket is not b loc ked.
English – 15 ASSEMBL Y Fitting the bar and c hain Check that the chain br ake is in disengaged position b y moving the front hand guard to wards the front handle. Unscrew the bar n ut and remov e the clutch cov er (chain br ak e). T ak e off the transpor tation ring (A).
16 – English FUEL HANDLING Fuel Note! The machine is equipped with a two-stroke engine and must alwa ys be run using a mixture of gasoline and two- stroke oil. It is impor tant to accurately measure the amount of oil to be mix ed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained.
English – 17 FUEL HANDLING Fueling Clean the area around the fuel cap . Clean the fuel and chain oil tanks regularly . The fuel filter must be replaced at least once a year . Contamination in the tanks causes malfunction. Make sure the fuel is w ell mixed b y shaking the container bef ore refuelling.
18 – English ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Starting and stopping Cold engine Starting: The chain brak e should be activ ated when starting the chain saw . Activ ate the chain brak e by pushing the front hand guard f orwards. Ignition; choke: Slide the control to its rear position.
English – 19 ST AR TING AND ST OPPING • The chain brak e should be activated when starting. Se instructions under the heading Star t and stop. Do not drop star t. This method is very dangerous because you may lose control of the saw . • Ne ver start the machine indoors.
20 – English W ORKING TECHNIQUES Bef ore use: 1 Check that the chain br ake w orks correctly and is not damaged. 2 Check that the throttle loc k works correctly and is not damaged. 3 Check that the stop s witch works correctly and is not damaged. 4 Check that all handles are free from oil.
English – 21 W ORKING TECHNIQUES 7 T ake great care when cutting a tree that is under tension. A tree that is under tension ma y spring back to its normal position bef ore or after being cut. If y ou position y ourself incorrectly or make the cut in the wrong place the tree ma y hit you or the machine and cause y ou to lose control.
22 – English W ORKING TECHNIQUES 8 T ake great care when y ou cut with the top edge of the bar , i.e. when cutting from the underside of the object. This is known as cutting with a pushing chain. The chain tries to push the chain saw bac k tow ards the user .
English – 23 W ORKING TECHNIQUES Cut all the wa y through the log from abo v e. Av oid letting the chain touch the ground as y ou finish the cut. Maintain full throttle but be prepared f or what might happen. If it is possible (can y ou turn the log?) stop cutting about 2/3 of the w a y through the log.
24 – English W ORKING TECHNIQUES • W eight of snow Y ou ma y find you are f orced to let the tree f all in its natural direction because it is impossib le or dangerous to try to make it f all in the direction you first intended.
English – 25 W ORKING TECHNIQUES When the f elling cut and directional cut are complete the tree should star t to fall b y itself or with the aid of a f elling wedge or breaking bar .
26 – English W ORKING TECHNIQUES How to a v oid kickbac k What is kic kback? The word kic kback is used to describe the sudden reaction that causes the chain saw and bar to jump off an object when the upper quadrant of the tip of the bar , known as the kickbac k zone , touches an object.
English – 27 MAINTENANCE General The user must only carry out the maintenance and ser vice work described in this manual. Carb uretor adjustment Due to e xisting en vironmental and emissions legislation y our chain saw is equipped with mo vement limiters on the carburetor adjuster scre ws.
28 – English MAINTENANCE High speed jet H At the factory the engine is adjusted at sea level. When working at a high altitude or in diff erent weather conditions, temperatures and atmospheric humidity , it may be necessary to make minor adjustments to the high speed jet.
English – 29 MAINTENANCE Thr ottle lock • Make sure the throttle control is loc ked at the idle setting when the throttle lock is released. • Press the throttle lock and mak e sure it returns to its or iginal position when you release it.
30 – English MAINTENANCE Muffler Ne ver use a machine that has a f aulty m uffler . Regularly check that the muffler is securely attached to the machine. Some mufflers are equipped with a special spark arrestor mesh. If y our machine has this type of muffler , you should clean the mesh at least once a week.
English – 31 MAINTENANCE T ensioning the recoil spring • Hook the star ter cord in the notch in the pulley and turn the star ter pulley about 2 turns clockwise. Note! Check that the pulle y can be turned an additional 1/ 2 tur n when the star ter cord is pulled all the w a y out.
32 – English MAINTENANCE that the electrode gap is 0.5 mm (0,020"). The spark plug should be replaced after about a month in operation or earlier if necessar y . Note! Alwa ys use the recommended spark plug type! Use of the wrong spar k plug can damage the piston/cylinder .
