8 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Cutting attac hment guard This guard is intended to pre vent loose objects from being thrown to wards the operator . The guard also protects the operator from accidental contact with the cutting attachment. Check that the guard is undamaged and not cr acked.
English – 9 GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS If the muffler on y our machine is fitted with a spar k arrestor mesh this must be cleaned regularly . A block ed mesh will cause the engine to ov erheat and may lead to serious damage. Loc king nut A locking n ut is used to secure some types of cutting attachment.
10 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS General rules Only use cutting attachments with the guards we recommend! See the chapter on T echnical data. K eep the teeth of the blade correctly sharpened! Follo w our instructions and use the recommended file gauge.
English – 11 ASSEMBL Y Fitting the J-handle • Clip the loop handle onto the shaft. Note that the loop handle must be fitted between the arro ws on the shaft. • Slide the spacer into the slot in the loop handle. • Fit the nut, knob and scre w .
12 – English ASSEMBL Y Fitting a blade guar d, grass blade and grass cutter • Hook the blade guard/combination guard (A) onto the fitting on the shaft and secure with the bolt. CA UTION! Ensure that the guard e xtension is removed. Use the recommended blade guard.
English – 13 FUEL HANDLING Fuel safety Ne ver star t the machine: 1 If you ha ve spilt fuel on it. Wipe off the spillage and allow remaining fuel to e vaporate . 2 If you ha ve spilt fuel on y ourself or your clothes , change your clothes . W ash any part of your body that has come in contact with fuel.
14 – English FUEL HANDLING Mixing • Alwa ys mix the gasoline and oil in a clean container intended f or fuel. • Alwa ys star t by filling half the amount of the gasoline to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture.
English – 15 ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Chec k before starting • Check the b lade to ensure that no cracks ha ve f ormed at the bottom of the teeth or by the centre hole .
16 – English ST AR TING AND ST OPPING CA UTION! Do not pull the star ter cord all the way out and do not let go of the star ter handle when the cord is fully e xtended. This can damage the machine. CA UTION! Do not put any par t of y our body in marked area.

20 – English MAINTENANCE Low speed jet L T r y to find the highest idling speed, turning the low speed needle L clockwise respectiv ely counter-clockwise . When the highest speed has been f ound, tur n the low speed needle L 1/ 4 turn counter-clockwise.
English – 21 MAINTENANCE Muffler CA UTION! Some mufflers are fitted with a catalytic conv er ter . See chapter on T echnical data to see whether y our machine is fitted with a catalytic conv er ter . The muffler is designed to reduce the noise le vel and to direct the e xhaust gases awa y from the operator .
22 – English MAINTENANCE Air filter The air filter must be regularly cleaned to remov e dust and dir t in order to av oid: • Carburettor malfunctions • Star ting problems • Loss of engine power • Unnecessar y wear to engine parts • Excessive fuel consumption.
