GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 7 BOO TS Wear sturdy , non-slip boots. CLO THING Wear clothes made of a strong f abric and avoid loose clothing that can catch on twigs and branches. Always wear heavy , long pants. Do not wear jewellery , shor ts sandals or go barefoot.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 8 – English Stop s witch Use the stop s witch to switch off the engine . Star t the engine and mak e sure the engine stops when you mov e the stop switch to the stop setting. Cutting attac hment guard This guard is intended to pre vent loose objects from being thrown tow ards the operator .
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 9 Nev er use a machine that has a faulty muffler . Regularly check that the muffler is securely attached to the machine. If the muffler on your machine is fitted with a spark arrestor screen this must be cleaned regularly .
ASSEMBL Y 10 – English Fitting the loop handle • Clip the loop handle onto the shaft. Note that the loop handle must be fitted between the arrows on the shaft. • Slide the spacer into the slot in the loop handle. Fit the nut, knob and screw . Do not overtighten.
ASSEMBL Y English – 11 Assembling the cutting equipment Fitting the trimmer guard and trimmer head • Fit the correct trimmer guard (A) for use with the trimmer head. Hook the tr immer guard/combination guard onto the fitting on the shaft and secure with the bolt (L).
FUEL HANDLING 12 – English Fuel safety Nev er star t the machine: 1 If you ha ve spilled fuel on it. Wipe off the spillage and allow remaining fuel to e vaporate. 2 If you ha ve spilled fuel on yourself or y our clothes, change your clothes. W ash any par t of your body that has come in contact with fuel.
FUEL HANDLING English – 13 Mixing • Alwa ys mix the gasoline and oil in a clean container intended for fuel. • Alwa ys star t by filling half the amount of the gasoline to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING 14 – English Check bef ore star ting • Check that the support flange is not cracked due to fatigue or due to being tightened too m uch. Discard the suppor t flange if it is crack ed. • Ensure the locking nut has not lost its captiv e force.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING English – 15 CA UTION! Do not pull the star ter cord all the way out and do not let go of the star ter handle when the cord is fully extended. This can damage the machine . CA UTION! Do not put any part of your body in marked area.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 16 – English General working instructions Basic safety rules 1 Look around you: • T o ensure that people, animals or other things cannot affect y our control of the machine.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 17 Basic working tec hniques Alwa ys slow the engine to idle speed after each working operation. Long per iods at full throttle without any load on the engine can lead to serious engine damage. Grass trimming with a trimmer head T rimming • Hold the trimmer head just above the ground at an angle.
MAINTENANCE 18 – English Carburetor Y our Husqvarna product has been designed and manuf actured to specifications that reduce har mful emissions. After the engine has used 8-10 tanks of fuel the engine will be run-in.
MAINTENANCE English – 19 Low speed jet L T r y to find the highest idling speed, tur ning the low speed needle L clockwise respectiv ely counter-clockwise. When the highest speed has been found, turn the low speed needle L 1/4 turn counter-clockwise.
MAINTENANCE 20 – English Muffler CA UTION! Some mufflers are fitted with a catalytic conv er ter. See chapter on T echnical data to see whether your machine is fitted with a catalytic con ver ter . The muffler is designed to reduce the noise le vel and to direct the exhaust gases a way from the oper ator.
MAINTENANCE English – 21 Spark plug The spark plug condition is influenced by: • Incorrect carburetor adjustment. • An incorrect fuel mixture (too much or incorrect type of oil). • A dir ty air filter . These factors cause deposits on the spark plug electrodes, which ma y result in operating problems and star ting difficulties.
MAINTENANCE 22 – English Oiling the air filter Alw a ys use HUSQV ARNA filter oil, ar t. no. 531 00 92-48. The filter oil contains a solvent to mak e it spread evenly through the filter . Y ou should therefore a void skin contact. Put the filter in a plastic bag and pour the filter oil ov er it.
