GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 8 – English be chec ked. See instructions under the heading Maintenance. Stop s witch Use the stop s witch to switch off the engine . Star t the engine and mak e sure the engine stops when you mov e the stop switch to the stop setting.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 9 In countries that have a w ar m and dry climate there is a significant risk of fire. W e therefore fit certain mufflers with a spark arrestor screen. Check whether the muffler on your machine is fitted with this kind of screen.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 10 – English T rimmer head • Only use the recommended trimmer heads and trimmer cords. These have been tested b y the manuf acturer to suit a par ticular engine size. This is especially impor tant when a fully automatic trimmer head is used.
ASSEMBL Y English – 11 Fitting the loop handle • Clip the loop handle onto the shaft. Note that the loop handle must be fitted between the arrows on the shaft. • Slide the spacer into the slot in the loop handle. Fit the nut, knob and screw . Do not ov er tighten.
ASSEMBL Y 12 – English Assembling the cutting equipment Fitting the trimmer guard and trimmer head • Fit the correct trimmer guard (A) for use with the trimmer head. Hook the tr immer guard/combination guard onto the fitting on the shaft and secure with the bolt (L).
FUEL HANDLING English – 13 Fuel safety Nev er star t the machine: 1 If you ha ve spilled fuel on it. Wipe off the spillage and allow remaining fuel to e vaporate. 2 If you ha ve spilled fuel on yourself or y our clothes, change your clothes. W ash any par t of y our body that has come in contact with fuel.
FUEL HANDLING 14 – English Mixing • Alwa ys mix the gasoline and oil in a clean container intended for fuel. • Alwa ys star t by filling half the amount of the gasoline to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING English – 15 Check bef ore star ting • Check that the support flange is not cracked due to fatigue or due to being tightened too m uch. Discard the suppor t flange if it is crack ed. • Ensure the locking nut has not lost its captiv e force.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING 16 – English apply full throttle; the throttle will automatically disengage from the star t setting. CA UTION! Do not pull the star ter cord all the way out and do not let go of the star ter handle when the cord is fully extended.
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES English – 17 General working instructions Basic safety rules 1 Look around you: • T o ensure that people, animals or other things cannot affect y our control of the machine.
W ORKING TECHNIQ UES 18 – English Basic working tec hniques Alwa ys slow the engine to idle speed after each working operation. Long periods at full throttle without any load on the engine can lead to serious engine damage. Grass trimming with a trimmer head T rimming • Hold the trimmer head just above the ground at an angle.
MAINTENANCE English – 19 Carburetor Y our Husqvarna product has been designed and manuf actured to specifications that reduce har mful emissions. After the engine has used 8-10 tanks of fuel the engine will be run-in.
MAINTENANCE 20 – English cause fire if directed against dry and combustible material. Some mufflers are equipped with a special spark arrestor screen. If your machine has this type of muffler , you should clean the screen at least once a week. This is best done with a wire brush.
MAINTENANCE English – 21 If the machine is low on pow er, difficult to start or runs poorly at idle speed: alw ays check the spark plug first before taking an y fur ther action. If the spark plug is dirty , clean it and check that the electrode gap is 0.
MAINTENANCE 22 – English Bevel gear The bev el gear is filled with the right quantity of grease at the factory . Ho wev er, bef ore using the machine you should check that the be vel gear is filled three-quarters full with grease. Use HUSQV ARNA special grease.
