Husqv ar na is based on a tradition that dates bac k to 1689, when the Swedish King Karl XI ordered the construction of a factory on the banks of the Huskvarna River , f or production of muskets .

8 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Cutting attac hment guard This guard is intended to pre vent loose objects from being thrown to wards the operator . The guard also protects the operator from accidental contact with the cutting attachment. Check that the guard is undamaged and not cr acked.
English – 9 GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS If the muffler on y our machine is fitted with a spar k arrestor screen this must be cleaned regularly . A bloc ked screen will cause the engine to ov erheat and may lead to serious damage. Loc king nut A locking n ut is used to secure some types of cutting attachment.
10 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS General rules Only use cutting attachments with the guards we recommend! See the chapter on T echnical data. K eep the teeth of the blade correctly sharpened! Follo w our instructions and use the recommended file gauge.
English – 11 ASSEMBL Y Fitting the J-handle • Clip the loop handle onto the shaft. Note that the loop handle must be fitted between the arro ws on the shaft. • Slide the spacer into the slot in the loop handle. • Fit the nut, knob and scre w .
12 – English ASSEMBL Y • Inser t a finger into the centre hole of the cov er (I) while grasping the co ver with y our other fingers. Using the index finger and thumb of your other hand, release the tw o catches (J) that engage in the cut-outs in the bottom half (K).
English – 13 FUEL HANDLING Fuel safety Ne ver star t the machine: 1 If you ha ve spilled fuel on it. Wipe off the spillage and allow remaining fuel to e vaporate . 2 If you ha ve spilled fuel on y ourself or your clothes , change your clothes . W ash any part of your body that has come in contact with fuel.
14 – English FUEL HANDLING Mixing • Alwa ys mix the gasoline and oil in a clean container intended f or fuel. • Alwa ys star t by filling half the amount of the gasoline to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture.
English – 15 ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Chec k before starting • Check the b lade to ensure that no cracks ha ve f ormed at the bottom of the teeth or by the centre hole .
16 – English ST AR TING AND ST OPPING CA UTION! Do not pull the star ter cord all the way out and do not let go of the star ter handle when the cord is fully e xtended. This can damage the machine. CA UTION! Do not put any par t of y our body in marked area.

18 – English W ORKING TECHNIQUES Grass c learing using a grass blade • Grass b lades and grass cutters must not be used on woody stems. • A grass b lade is used for all types of tall or coarse g rass.

Hold the cord parallel to and abov e the area to be s wept and mov e the tool to and fro . • When cutting and s weeping you should use full throttle to obtain the best results.
20 – English MAINTENANCE Carb uretor Y our Husqv arna product has been designed and manuf actured to specifications that reduce har mful emissions. After the engine has used 8-10 tanks of fuel the engine will be run-in.
English – 21 MAINTENANCE will run smoothly in ev er y position. The idle speed should also be well below the speed at which the cutting attachment starts to rotate. High speed jet H The high speed jet H aff ects the engine power , speed, temperature and fuel consumption.
22 – English MAINTENANCE Cooling system T o keep the w or king temperature as lo w as possible the machine is equipped with a cooling system. The cooling system consists of: 1 Air intake on the starter . 2 Fins on the flywheel. 3 Cooling fins on the cylinder .
English – 23 MAINTENANCE Bevel gear The be vel gear is filled with the right quantity of grease at the f actor y . Howe v er , before using the machine y ou should check that the be vel gear is filled three-quar ters full with grease . Use HUSQV ARNA special grease.
24 – English MAINTENANCE Maintenance sc hedule The f ollowing is a list of the maintenance that must be perf or med on the machine . Most of the items are described in the Maintenance section. The user must only carry out the maintenance and ser vice work described in this manual.
