8 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Hand guar d The hand guard pre vents hands from coming into contact with the moving b lades, f or example, if the oper ator loses grip on the front handle. Check that the hand guard is fi tted correctly . Check that the hand guard is undamaged.
English – 9 GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Blades T o ensure good cutting results it is impor tant that the contact pressure between the b lades is correct. The contact pressure is adjusted by turning the screws on the underside of the bar clockwise as f ar as they will go .
10 – English FUEL HANDLING Fuel safety Ne ver start the machine: 1 If you ha v e spilt fuel on it. Wipe off the spillage and allo w remaining fuel to e vapor ate. 2 If you ha v e spilt fuel on yourself or y our clothes, change your clothes . W ash any part of your body that has come in contact with fuel.
English – 11 FUEL HANDLING Mixing • Alwa ys mix the petrol and oil in a clean container intended f or fuel. • Alwa ys star t by fi lling half the amount of the petrol to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture. Add the remaining amount of petrol.
12 – English ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Chec k bef ore star ting • Inspect the working area. Remove an y objects that could be thrown out. • Check the cutting attachment. Ne v er use blades that are dull, crac ked or damaged. • Check that the machine is in perf ect working order.

Gr ip the star ter handle, slowly pull out the cord with y our right hand until you f eel some resistance (the star ter pawls g rip), now quickly and powerfully pull the cord.
