6 ENGLISH SAFE USE CA UTION! Never operate a c hain saw with one hand only . Doing so may lead to i serious injury to operator , helpers or bystander s. An electric chain saw is designed f or operation with both hands. D ANGER! Use of accessories not conforming to the recommendations outlined in the Operating Instructions could lead to injury .
7 ENGLISH • Double-insulated! Y our electric chain saw is doub le-insulated for added protection against electric shock. A double-insulated electric tool is designed with two separ ate «lay ers» of electr ical insulation or one la yer of insulation of double thic kness between the operator and the tool's conducting par ts.
8 ENGLISH KICKBACK PREVENTION D ANGER! Kickbac ks occur suddenly and without warning. A kickbac k may be violent enough to thro w a chainsaw bac k at the user .
9 ENGLISH • Most accidents caused by kic kbacks tak e place in connection with limbing. Make cer tain your f ooting is secure and that there are no i objects nearby which ma y trip you or mak e you lose y our balance.
10 ENGLISH • The chain brak e (A) is activated either manually (with the left hand) or b y the f orce of iner tia (the iner tia of the kickbac k guard resisting the motion of the saw from the f orce of the kic kback). How ev er it is activated, the kickbac k protection mechanism works in the opposite direction to the force of the kickbac k.

W ear and debr is both aff ect brake function. • Inspect the brak e band regular ly , ensur ing that it is nowhere less than 0.6 mm thic k Kic kback guar d inspection • Inspect kickbac k guard f or visible def ects, such as crac ks.
12 ENGLISH Y our chain saw f eatures a slip clutch which protects it from ov er load. The slip clutch ma y require cleaning after long per iods of operation.
13 ENGLISH 2 3 2. Screw out the guide bar n ut and remove the chain driv e cov er . 3. Fit the chain around guide bar nose with the top cutters f acing forw ards. 4. Holding the chain ov er the guide bar nose, position the bac k end of the guide bar against the drive sproc ket at a 45° angle to the pow er head.

Filling chain oil • All our chain saw models f eature automatic chain lubrication. Chec king automatic chain lubrication system •S tar t the chain saw and point the guide bar tow ards a fixed, light-coloured object at a distance of appro ximately 20 cm.
16 ENGLISH Star ting •G r ip the front handle fir mly with your left hand. •G r ip the rear handle fir mly with your right hand. • Press and hold the pow er tr igger lock out button with y our r ight thumb and squeeze the po wer trigger with your inde x finger .
17 ENGLISH HORIZONT AL FILE ANGLE FILE DIAMETER FILE DEPTH See «T echnical Specifications» f or the details which apply to your chain. It is v er y difficult to file a chain saw correctly without the proper aids. We recommend the use of a file guide to ensure maximum cutting efficiency with the least tendency to kic kback.
18 ENGLISH - If it is possible to turn the log, stop cutting 2/3 of the wa y through the log. -T ur n the log and cut the remaining section from abov e. • Cutting a log suppor ted at one end. The log is more than lik ely to splinter if cut straight through from the top do wn.
19 ENGLISH FELLING OPERATIONS CA UTION! Felling a tree is a job which calls f or experience. Do not attempt to fell trees if you are inexperienced. DO NO T CARR Y OUT ANY OPERA TIONS FOR WHICH Y OU DO NO T FEEL QU ALIFIED! CA UTION! Beginning chain sa w operators should gain experience cutting logs on a sa whorse or similar arrangement.
20 ENGLISH Felling Three cuts are made to f ell a tree. The «TOP NO TCH CUT» and the «BOTT OM» or «HORIZONT AL NO TCH CUT» f or m the «NO TCH», which deter mines the direction in which the tree will fall. The final cut is the «FELLING CUT», which allows the tree to topple o ver .
21 ENGLISH If the HINGE WOOD is too small or has been sa wn through, or if the notch and the f elling cut are mismatched, the tree is no longer under control. As the f elling cut approaches the notch, the tree should star t falling, either b y itself or with the help of a WEDGE or FELLING BAR.
