4 – English The machine‘s safety equipment This section describes the machine ‘ s safety equipment, its function and how checks and maintenance ar e carried out to ensure that it operates correctly . (S ee the chapter “What is what“ to locate where this equipment is positioned on your machine.
English – 5 2. Stop switch The stop switch should be used to stop the engine. 3. Cutting attachment guard This guard is intended to prevent objects from being thrown to wards the operator and to protect the operator from unintentionel contact with the cutting attachment.
6 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS 6. Muffler The muffler is designed to give the lowest possible noise level and to direct the engine ‘ s exhaust fumes away from the operator . Muffler fitted with catalytic converter is also designed to reduce harmful exhaust components.
English – 7 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS 1. Throttle trigger lock • Check that the throttle is locked in the “ idling position “ when the throttle trigger lock is in its original position. • Press in the throttle trigger lock and make sure it returns to its original position when released.
8 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS 3. Cutting attachment guard • Check that the guard is undamaged and not cracked. • Replace the guard if it has been exposed to impact or is cracked. • Always use the prescribed blade an guard combination, see chapter "Technical data" .
English – 9 7. Quick-release • Check that the harness straps are correctly positioned. When the harness and machine are adjusted, check the harness ‘ safety release catch to ensure it works correctly.
10 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Cutting equipment Sharpening the grass blade • See the cutting equipment ’ s packaging for correct filing instructions. • The blades are sharpened using a single cut flat file. • Sharpen all edges equally to maintain the balance of the blade.

12 – English General working instructions SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS 4. Take great care when cutting a tree that is subject to tension. A tree that is under tension can spring back to its original position both before and after being cut.
English – 13 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Adjusting the harness and clearing saw Designations • Forestry clearing is a general term for cutting small trees where each stem is cut individually. A saw blade is used. • Brush cutting is a general term for clearing grass.
14 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Clearing ‘ s ABC A. Always use the correct equipment. B. Always have well adjusted equipment. C. Follow the safety instructions. D. Organise the work well. E. Always use full throttle when applying the blade. F. Always use a sharp blade.
English – 15 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS • Large stems must be cut from two sides. Determine in which direction the stem should fall. First apply the saw to the felling side. Then cut from the other side to fell the stem. The feed pressure should be applied with regard to the size of the stem ‘ s hardness.
16 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Grass clearing using the trimmer head and plastic knifes • Hold the trimmer head just above the ground at an angle. It is the end of the cord that carries out the work. Let the cord work at its own pace. Do not press the cord into the area to be cut.

22 – English Assembling the handlebars (240R, 245R, 250R) ASSEMBL Y • The handlebars can easily be turned to fit along the shaft for easy transportation and storage. • Loosen the knob. Turn the handles clockwise so that the throttle comes against the engine.
English – 23 ASSEMBL Y Assembling the handlebars (265RX) • Fit the left handle in the handle support. • Fit the right handle. • Make a first adjustment and tighten the screws slightly. • Then make the final adjustment with the clearingsaw in the harness, to obtain the most suitable working position.
24 – English ASSEMBL Y Assembly of the blade and trimmer head Assembling the blade guard and clearing blade • The guard (A) is fitted using 4 screws (L) as set out in the diagram. NOTE! Use the recommended blade guard. • Fit the drive disc (B) on the output axle.
English – 25 ASSEMBL Y Assembling the spray guard and trimmer head T rimmy SII • Fit the correct guard (A) for working with a trimmer head. Secure using 4 bolts (L) and the support plate (M) as shown. • Fit the driver plate (B) on the drive shaft.
26 – English FUEL HANDLING Fuel mixture Mixture • Always mix gasoline and oil in a clean container intended for fuel. • Always start by filling half the quantity of gasoline required. Then add the entire oil quantity. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture.
English – 27 ST ART AND ST OP Cold engine IGNITION: Set the stop switch to the start position. CHOKE: Set the choke control in the choke position. Warm engine U se the same star ting procedure as for the cold engine, but do not set the choke control in the choke position.
28 – English ST AR T AND ST OP Stop The engine is stopped by switching off the ignition. ! W ARNING! When the engine is started with the choke in the choke or start position the cutting equipment starts to rotate immediately . Start P ress the machine body against the ground using your left hand (NO TE! N ot your foot).
English – 29 Carburetor Y our Husqvarna product has been designed and manufactured to specifications that r educe harmful emissions. After your unit has been run 8-10 tanks of fuel the engine has broken in.
30 – English Final setting of the idling speed T Adjust the idling speed with the screw T , If it is necessar y to readjust. F irst turn the idle speed adjusting screw T clockwise until the cutting attachment starts to rotate/ mo ve. Then turn, counter- clockwise until the cutting attachment stops.
English – 31 MAINTENANCE Cooling system T o maintain as low operating temperature as possible the engine is equipped with a cooling system. The cooling system consists of: 1. An air intake on the starter unit. 2. Cooling fins on the flywheel. 3. Cooling fins on the cylinder 4.
32 – English MAINTENANCE Air filter The air filter should be cleaned regularly remo ving dust and dirt to avoid: • carburettor malfunction • starting problems • reduced engine power • unnece.
English – 33 MAINTENANCE Angle gear The angle gear is filled with a sufficient quantity of grease at the factory . However , before using the machine you should check that the angle gear is filled to 3/4 with grease. U se HUSQV ARNA special grease. N ormally , the grease does not need to be changed except when the angle gear is repair ed.

Incorrect cutting equipment or an incorrectly sharpened b lade increases the risk of kickbac k. • See the cutting equipment ’ s packaging for correct filing instructions. • Make sure that the blade is well supported when you use the file.
