GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 8 – English • The brake is applied when the front hand guard (B) is pushed forw ards. • This mov ement activates a spring-loaded mechanism that tightens the brake band (C) around the engine drive system (D) (clutch drum).

When the chain is blunt you hav e to ex er t more pressure to force the bar through the wood and the chips will be very small.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 13 data to find the correct depth gauge setting for y our par ticular chain. Adjustment of depth gauge setting • The cutting teeth should be newly sharpened before adjusting the depth gauge setting. W e recommend that you adjust the depth gauge setting e very third time you sharpen the cutting teeth.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 14 – English Ne ver use waste oil! Using w aste oil can be dangerous to you and damage the machine and en vironment. Filling with chain oil • All our chain saws ha ve an automatic chain lubrication system. On some models the oil flow is also adjustable.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 15 Checking wear on cutting equipment Check the chain daily f or : • Visible crac ks in rivets and links. • Whether the chain is stiff. • Whether rivets and links are badly worn. Replace the saw chain if it e xhibits any of the points abov e.
ASSEMBL Y 16 – English Fitting the bar and chain Check that the chain brak e is in disengaged position by moving the front hand guard tow ards the front handle. Remov e the bar nuts and remove the clutch co ver (chain brake). T ake off the transportation ring (A).
FUEL HANDLING English – 17 Fuel CA UTION! The machine is equipped with a tw o-stroke engine and must alwa ys been run using a mixture of petrol and two-stroke oil. It is impor tant to accurately measure the amount of oil to be mixed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained.
FUEL HANDLING 18 – English Fuelling Clean the area around the fuel cap. Clean the fuel and chain oil tanks regularly . The fuel filter must be replaced at least once a year . Contamination in the tanks causes malfunction. Make sure the fuel is well mix ed by shaking the container before refuelling.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING English – 19 Starting and stopping Cold engine Starting: The chain brake must be engaged when the chain saw is started. Activate the brake b y moving the front hand guard forw ards. Ignition: Slide the ignition s witch to the left.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING 20 – English star ts, quic kly apply full throttle; the throttle start lock will automatically disengage. As the chain brake is still engaged the speed of the engine must be set to idling as soon as possible , this is achiev ed by quickly disengaging the throttle loc k.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 21 Bef ore use: 1 Check that the chain brak e works correctly and is not damaged. 2 Check that the rear right hand guard is not damaged. 3 Check that the throttle loc kout works correctly and is not damaged. 4 Check that the stop s witch works correctly and is not damaged.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 22 – English Fit a guard to the bar before tr anspor ting the chain saw or carrying it for any distance . 7 When you put the chain sa w on the ground, lock the saw chain using the chain brak e and ensure you hav e a constant view of the machine.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 23 the saw chain is jamming, the sa w may be pushed back at y ou. 8 Unless the user resists this pushing force there is a risk that the chain saw will mov e so far backw ards that only the kickbac k zone of the bar is in contact with the tree, which will lead to a kickbac k.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 24 – English Limbing When limbing thick branches y ou should use the same approach as for cutting. Cut difficult branches piece by piece . Cutting If you ha ve a pile of logs, each log you attempt to cut should be remov ed from the pile, placed on a saw horse or runners and cut individually .
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 25 • Arrangement of branches • Weight of sno w • Obstacles within the reach of the tree: for e xample, other trees, pow er lines, roads and buildings. • Look for signs of damage and rot in the stem, this makes it more probab ly that the tree will break and star t to fall bef ore you e xpect it to.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 26 – English Felling cut The felling cut is made from the opposite side of the tree and it must be perf ectly hor izontal. Stand on the left side of the tree and cut on the pull stroke. Make the f elling cut about 3-5 cm (1.5-2 inches) above the bottom directional cut.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 27 • P or table Cutting trees and branches that are in tension Prepar ations: W ork out which side is in tension and where the point of maximum tension is (i.e. where it would break if it was bent e ven more). Decide which is the safest w ay to release the tension and whether you are ab le to do it safely .
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 28 – English Limbing Make sure that y ou can stand and move about saf ely . Work on the left side of the trunk. W ork as close as possible to the chain sa w for maximum control. If possible , let the weight of the chain saw rest on the trunk.
MAINTENANCE English – 29 General The user must only carry out the maintenance and service work descr ibed in this manual. Carburettor adjustment The carburettor can be designed in diff erent ways , depending on existing en vironmental and emissions legislation.
MAINTENANCE 30 – English Fine adjustment When the machine has been ”run-in” the carb urettor should be finely adjusted. The fine adjustment should be carried out by a qualified person. First adjust the L-jet, then the idling screw T and then the H-jet.
MAINTENANCE English – 31 • The carburettor has three adjustment controls: - L = Low speed jet - H = High speed jet - T = Idle adjustment screw • The T -screw regulates the throttle setting at idle speed. If the T -screw is turned clockwise this giv es a higher idle speed; tur ning it anti-clockwise giv es a lower idle speed.
MAINTENANCE 32 – English • Y ou have no w run the machine at settings of H = ± 0, H=+1/4, H=+1/2 relative to the basic settings . At full throttle the engine has sounded different f or each setting. The H-jet is correctly adjusted when the machine burb les a little.
MAINTENANCE English – 33 Checking the brake trigger Place the chain saw on firm ground and start it. Mak e sure the chain does not touch the ground or any other object. See the instructions under the heading Star t and stop. Grasp the chain saw firmly , wrapping your fingers and thumbs around the handles.
MAINTENANCE 34 – English Vibration damping system Regular ly check the vibration damping units f or cracks or deformation. Make sure the vibration damping units are securely attached to the engine unit and handle unit. Stop switc h Star t the engine and make sure the engine stops when you mov e the stop switch to the stop setting.
MAINTENANCE English – 35 Starter Changing a br oken or worn starter cord • Loosen the screws that hold the starter against the crankcase and remov e the star ter. • Pull out the cord approx. 30 cm and hook it into the notch in the rim of the pulley .
MAINTENANCE 36 – English • Remov e the recoil spr ing from inside the pulley b y tapping the pulley lightly with its inside f ace downwards against a w or k bench or the like. If the spring pops out during fitting, wind it up again, working from the outside in towards centre .
MAINTENANCE English – 37 Lubricating the bar tip sproc ket Lubricate the bar tip sprocket each time y ou refuel. Use the special grease gun and a good quality bearing grease. Needle bearing lubrication The clutch drum has a needle bearing on the output shaft.
MAINTENANCE 38 – English ”Air Injection” centrifugal cleaning Centrifugal cleaning means the following: All air to the carburettor passes through the starter. Dir t and dust is centrifuged out by the cooling fan. IMPORT ANT! In order to maintain operation of the centrifugal cleaning system it must be regularly maintained.
