1 1 Safety Precautions Thank you for purchasing the EchoLife HG520c Home Gateway (hereinafter referred to as the HG520c). For safety purposes, carefully read through these safety precaution s and observe them during operation. Basic Requirements z Keep the device dry during storage, tran sportatio n, and operation of the device.
2 z Use the accessor ies such as th e power adaptor provided or author ized only b y the manufacturer. z Make sure that the device doe s n ot get wet. If wat er gets into the d evice, disconnect the power supply immediately and unplug al l the cables connected to the device.
3 Wireless Product Usage R equirements z Keep the device away from mag netic storag e devices (e.g ., a ma gnetic card or a floppy disk), to prevent loss of the stored inform ation.
4 2 Connecting the Cables and Getting Started 2.1 Simple Connection If your telephone line is used f or the broa dband n etwork access only and if you do not need to use a telephone, take the following figure as a reference fo r connecting the cables.

7 2.4 Getting Started To power on the HG520c, pr ess the power button on the side panel of the HG520c. After you power on th e HG520c, the ADSL indicator blinks (for less than three minutes), which indicates that the HG520c is bein g activated. Later, the ADSL indicator turns s olid on.
8 4. Select Yes from the Active drop-down combo box and select Rou ting from the Mode drop-down combo box. 5. Select PPPoE from the Encapsulation drop-down combo box. 6. Enter the user name and p assword that are provid ed by the network operator in th e Username and Passwor d text boxes, and keep the default settings of other parameters.
9 9. Select Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop , and then click Finish . An icon for the dial-up connection is disp layed on the desktop of your computer. You need to perf orm the preced ing operations only once for creating a n etwork connection.
10 4. Select WPA-PS K from the Authentication Type drop-down combo box. 5. Select TKIP fro m the Encryption drop-down combo box. 6. Enter an ac cess pass word in the Pre-Shared Key tex t box. 7. RESET You can press and hold the RESET bu tton for over six seconds to restore the d efault settings of the HG520c.
